That's right, I said it!!!!

One of the things I enjoy from any album is the sense that the artist loves the project. You could tell from the opening cut ("...Grapevine") that McDonald was passionate about this. And it showed. Also, check out "Sign, Sealed, Delivered..." And does a very, very good job throughout.

I'm feeling all of the cuts off this CD. Yes, Mike Mac's voice has roughened a bit since his Doobie and Sweet Freedom (early solo) days, but he puts his whole heart in this one.

Also, the cuts (all of them) are well produced. The TV commercials (Nextel?) should make you buy this CD.

Oh, yeah, I'm not a Grammy head, but this is a straight up Album Of The Year candidate! Peace.

My question to you is, why use the words, "That's Right, I said it"?

Is there some fear of being stoned for your personal feelings about the album?

If not, there there's no need for those words.

Just my 19 cents.

I guess your right. I'm sure that there are plenty of Doobie-heads on this board for me to retract that statement.

I guess I won't get stoned, after all.

Oh, yeah, "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" is the bomb!!! He sings it on that TV comercial (Nextel?). Peace.

</font>
The Doobie Brothers were played at my house daily back in the seventies. I remember trying to mimick Michael McDonald's falsetto voice and my two older brothers wanting to knock the hell out of me for "killing the music".

The dude can produce some quality sounding music I have to agree.

I was hipped onto a 90-ish record that he did that still rings in my head as being quality.

Quality is blind to culture.

Does anyone have the full length version of "Sweet Freedom" (over 7 minutes long)? Alltime favorite Mike Mac cut!!!! Just found out recently that "Sweet Freedom" is a Rod Temperton composition.

What movie was that with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines (RIP)? Song came from there. Peace.

Michael Mcdonald rocks my world. I want to have his blue-eyed soulbabies.

Some of the songs on the new album I am a bit tired of in general, but he manages to keep them interesting.

the mix on the album is a bit fatter (more bassy and dynamic) than i was expecting as well, which was a pleasant surprise.

</font>
Or you could say he is Mya(SNL Fame) Rudolph's Dad. He collaborated with Teena Marie on some song writing on her albums after she left Motown.

Funny...
I just finished authoring Michael McDonald's new DVD. I'll be sending it off to the manufacturer today. It was shot on HD for WTTW's SoundStage.
It features both PCM (uncompressed stereo) and Dolby Digital 5.1

I believe they're only available for purchase through WTTW.

BTW, the disc features Ashford & Simpson doing most of the vocals.

Maybe I'm biased, but it's a great disc.

-e.

p.s. I've also done recent discs for the rock group "Chicago", "Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers", "Dennis DeYoung", and "Bonaroo 2003" featuring artist from "James Brown" to the "Dead". Also did "Plaster Caster" and "The Bettie Page Story" last month. YES, this is why it's taking so long for "UnUsual Suspects" to get finished.
This is Chip E. - House Pioneering Innovating Music Producer ("House PIMP" for short) - and I approve this message...
