Obama Open-Mic Slip: President Reveals Details On Budget Deal Talks (AUDIO)

President Barack Obama was caught on an open mic making some blunt and intriguing remarks about the actions of Republicans in recent budget negotiations that produced a deal to avert a government shutdown at a fundraiser in Chicago on Thursday, CBS News reports.
In audio relayed by the network, the president can be heard addressing unsuccessful Republican maneuvering to roll back portions of health care reform, as well as restrict Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funding, in reaching an agreement.
"I said, 'You want to repeal health care?'" Obama revealed at the private event. "Go at it. We'll have that debate. You're not going to be able to do that by nickel-and-diming me in the budget. You think we're stupid?'"
Ultimately, the resolutions pushed by Republicans targeting what may be the president's most significant legislative accomplishment to date and the women's health service provider failed to advance with the larger budget deal.
"Put it in a separate bill," the president said he told House Speaker John Boehner and members of his staff. "We'll call it up. And if you think you can overturn my veto, try it. But don't try to sneak this through."
CBS Radio News White House correspondent Mark Knoller heard Obama's remarks, which the president perhaps did not realize were being relayed by the microphone he was using to the White House press room on an audio feed.

i was reading this today and the first thing i thought was that this was a very innovative way to try to lie to the public.

we have no idea if that was meant to happen or not. maybe it was a mistake....

    or

maybe it was deliberate. i doubt it took months of planning...maybe they were there...someone noticed that the mic was open...someone knew someone was listening...a reporter perhaps or someone that would most definitely publish what they heard....so he took that chance to try grab some votes for his upcoming campaign...

politics man. it's ugly. ain't nothing right about it.

I don't think this was an 'accidental' open-mic. Seems calculated to me.

I don't really see anything wrong with what was said. I'm not undoing all my work over a few months budget. Not exactly confrontational.

This is quite interesting for me. I've never worked with US politicians, but I have worked with INdonesias head of state and his entourage included a technical person to sit with me to monitor everythign i was doing with the audio when the HOS gave a press conference.

Higher caliber speakers should always assume that mics are open, but this was totally a fuckup(planned?) by the white house press technician if the recording indeed came over the white house press feed. It was someones job to monitor what was going out of the mixer. What could have happened is that the mic was not muted after publicly addressing the audience, but simply the volume sent to the PA lowered, while the press feed might have had its own send. This would have presented a situation of flase confidence in obama assuming that his mic had indeed been muted.

however, it is a pretty clean recording, as if he was addressing a small group around the podium, given the lack of chatter and inclusion of mild laughter. interesting, hehe

mic-slip or not, it's good to know what's on his mind -- I don't think it's any secret that he will fight all efforts to repeal health care reform, which is and will likely be his signature piece of legislation

He did not know the mic was on but nothing to be embarrassed about in what he said. Believe me, it could have been a lot worse!

Lets see how many DHP members are wearing Donald for President Buttons & T-Shirts and the next CF Picnic.

I got an idea for a new T-Shirt, 1-888-NO-OBAMA i'd make a grip off off a select few, until the birthers & Trumpers foundout the CEO was Black

Unless I was Lester Holt or Wayne Brady.
