That Stanford OKState game was sloppy! Stanford has a pesky guard, but Cuse is too deep! Cuse by 10!

I say you guys blow them out, or Stanford wins in a close one ... I haven't seen Stanford play, but I know they are usually good, and return regular players (not that you guys don't have an experienced squad this year)

Just like UCF today ... totally off the radar (shit, that's the reason why I didn't go to Atlantis, b/c I thought the competition sucked ) ... but, early in the season, experience sometimes wins

Harvard upsets cold-shooting Florida State to reach tourney final

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=313290108

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas -- Brandyn Curry had six points, five assists, and five steals to help Harvard top Florida State 46-41 on Friday in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Oliver McNally and Wesley Saunders had seven points apiece for the Crimson (5-0), who will face Central Florida in the championship on Saturday.

The Seminoles (5-1) missed their first 15 shots. Michael Snaer led the way for Florida State (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP) with 10 points.

The halftime score was 14-14, matching the lowest total for a half in a Division I game since 1986. Ole Miss (15) and South Carolina (13) also combined for 28 points in the first half of their game on Jan. 8, 2003. The Seminoles were 5 for 24 from the field in the first half, and Harvard went 3 for 23.

Snaer's layup gave the Seminoles a 24-23 lead with 9:48 left, but Harvard countered with an 8-0 run. Laurent Rivard hit a key 3-pointer and Steve Moundou-Missi capped the spurt with a layup.

Florida State pulled within three on Bernard James' layup with 2:33 remaining, but Curry made a 3-pointer and two free throws to make it 42-34 with 43 seconds left.

Keith Wright had eight rebounds to help the Crimson outrebound the Seminoles 40-30. Harvard also went 17 for 24 from the free throw line, compared to 4 for 10 for FSU.

Florida State, which shot 12 for 23 in the second half, will face No. 4 Connecticut in the consolation game on Saturday.

good thing it's early in the season ... and on that Harvard win above, we have them on the schedule early Dec -- would have played them twice in 2 weeks

who'd have thought UConn / Florida State would be the consolation game

That was a ballroom at Atlantis ... it did have a weird look (lights turned down, like an NBA arena, trying to hide all the empty seats from the TV viewers)

Abromaitis out for season with torn ACL

    http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/coll...-with-torn-acl

Notre Dame forward Tim Abromaitis will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during practice Friday.

    ...

Abromaitis was forced to sit out the first four games of this season because of a misunderstanding of NCAA rules from his sophomore season in 2008-09, when he played in a pair of exhibitions before redshirting that season.

    ...

    -------------------------------------

I always hate to read injury news like this - hopefully the kid gets well, and gets another season to play

... but this story is a bit alarming to me b/c of the second quoted paragraph ... who knew he was out on NCAA violations? ... I'm sure it might have been a blurb somewhere in the past on Page 47, but this is kinda BS

... I'm no fan of the NCAA, and their selective enforcement or reporting, and how one could be led to think it's only a few select programs/players commit violations

it's a bit too early in the year for such statements ... how soon we forget what our 10th place team did last year

... however, if that's true, it includes Syracuse ... hold this nonsense until y'all move to the Jefferson Airplane Conference please

Can we consider Harvard (yeah, that Harvard) as one of them George Mason/Virginia Commonwealth Final Four teams this year!

I wouldn't be surprised if there were two mid majors in the Four!

Probably too early to tell, but one thing that is not in their favor, is that they have arrived on the national scene early - rather than hiding (like GM did that year) in their conference, and then arriving & shocking a team in the tourney (ala Princeton)

Amaker seems to be doing an incredible job ... they look really good (as long as the game is the way they want it)

We play Harvard on 12/8 ... let's see how that goes
