He's sticking with a fade off the tee, which is how he's keeping it playable. Sherwood is a Nicklaus design, so tee locations favor left to right players anyhow. He's gotten that snap hook out of his iron game, which is a sign he's not collapsing on that knee. He's connected throughout the swing in a way I haven't seen before. It's long but compact - he isn't moving off center when he goes hard. It's really pretty, man. He's unwinding into the rock, instead of mauling it like he used to.

Every shot he's taking the same divot. I'm on a couple of golf nerd blogs and boards and there are always extensive photos and videos of players at the range and their practice round shots. There are some high res photos of him hitting tight 5 irons and his grass underneath looks like he's making a flower bed. Just perfect rows of clipped grass - same depth. I saw that and knew he'd be in control this week.

I'm gonna begin work on a stinger tomorrow. I don't have one of those. I have a lot of shots but that stinger is just an all-purpose equalizer. It's an old school play that Tiger Woods made his own. Word was he taught it to Michelle Wie and the rest of the ladies on the LPGA was mad at him for it.

Rather revealing press conference, if not in words just look and pauses. He seems spent from relief. The game is a deva, man. It's a god, like the sun and the wind and the earth are gods. It has favor and wrath and it either turns toward you or turns it's back on you. He broke through a dark night into daylight. Good on him! It's a good day.
