Whenever a celebrity dies and the funeral is aired there is always a danger of it coming across as a circus. This however is being done with class,Kim Burell was a highlight for me. And her bodyguard's speech was very moving. Not sure she knew how loved she was by everyone when she was alive.

Brother Chuck please hear me out and we can talk about this one! I never thought I would be critiquing a funeral, your young brother is one of those people doing that of which you speak of!

It's Whitney Houston fam! It's world wide! And guess what there are some brothers and sisters on DHP who will want to rip me apart for what I AM ABOUT TO SAY and that's fine!

( SHE WAS A SHOWMAN THE TOP OF HER CLASS! SO WHY WOULDN'T WE THINK THAT HER GOING TO THE GRAVE WOULDN'T BE GRAND AS WELL?)

You are so right Big Bro! and thank you for for clearing up the difference between a comment and a critique! It bugs me out about how people view things! It's the bogus fabric that is used un wisely in this country! (Freedom of Speech) gets twisted when really its the upbringing that should be questioned!

I don't care who sang the best, who spoke the best a bigger picture is that the world had the opportunity to witness the service! And for it to be in Newark! was amazing!

You know that this is going to be talked about for awhile...

'So Bobby Brown left the funeral supposedly because of his seating arrangements and that all of his guests weren't accommodated. Please pray for Bobby because he needs love and grace too...'

Brother RAS I and the family was having somewhat of a debate about that as well, I really think that the family should have been able to sit with the family! Someone even said, "Those are his kids not hers" Still that was her husband good bad or indifferent I'm sure he loved her! I WILL PRAY FOR HIM! Thanks for posting!

I mean guest list drama at a funeral? We have to do better. I was actually indirectly involved with a similar situation recently .....unreal how people can act and try and pull trump at this time of grief.

I thought it was a very nice service with lots of fitting tributes and emotional moments. Something tells me it would have been just as Whitney would have wanted it.

You never know what is really going on in other people's lives or families, but for Bobby Brown not to be allowed to sit with and comfort his own daughter at this time--the only parent she has left--and properly grieve the woman he obviously loved very much and was probably the love of his life, this struck me as perhaps the saddest thing of the day.

AK...I totally agree with you on everything. I was out running around so I recorded it. I am at the part where Alicia Keyes just finished singing. But before I started watching it, a lot of the service was still going on "live" (around 3:30) and that's when I heard what happened to Bobby Brown and the statement that he made. They also captured a moment when Bobby was outside and comforting his son. His children knew her as well, and to treat him that way was so disrespectful. They should have made sure that he was up front with everyone else. That was the saddest moment of the day..Period

Very well said AK! I truly believe that when Bobby was going through his child support issues, it was Whitney who handled it financially! A woman of her stature to stand up next to her man was! HUGE! So in all actuality she was a mother to his children as well! Last night at Bang the Drum via Coffee Cave before I started the show I asked everyone to hold hands and have a moment of silence in her memory! It felt good as a House Community to see that happen! I wish the best for Bobby Kristina and her extended family to get through these trying times!

    Have a great family!

So do THREE (+ ?) news channels.

I'll be honest here, the news shouldn't have ANY entertainment news on it, and I also think that the newspapers should keep it in an Entertainment section rather than front page news.

None of her music changed anything ( REF: post about Jazz in 1959 )

She had good vocal chords in the same way Pele had great feet.

I was truly moved by the Alicia Keys tribute. The service allowed me to remember the great talent and her contributions to the music and entertainment industry. That is so much bigger than her issues and how I will remember her. She was working hard to improve and was committed to making a comeback. Makes it all the more tragic.

I found this spectacle to be highly distasteful

This is part of Whitneys legacy. For me, its the only part that matters:

As for the charges against me, I am unconcerned. I am beyond their timid lying morality, and so I am beyond caring.
