After working with this guy for 2 years and being personally responsible for getting him community board approval, I lost a lot of time and money on this project. Everything I posted or said was based on what we were working towards. For me it was going to be a space you, I and everyone in this community could call a home for our events. My intentions were based on that and I had no idea of what was going to go down in the end.
John, you have to understand that your word carry much weight...if you don't know this, I am here to tell you this today!! When you said "support this" folks came out the woodwork just on your word. So when it went all to shit, you have a responsibility to come out and say something...if it was ok to run to this board and shout "support this" from the rafters, then what make you think it is "just not the time or place to air our issues on this or any other site" when things didn't turn out as expected? Especially when you found out you were dealing with a sheisty a-hole.

When you ran here saying that this was the 2nd coming, I was the first one to jump out and call bullshit, and I caught some heat for this...but the reason I was strong in my stance is because I got confirmation on who you were actually dealing with, but more importantly, I saw bullshit for exactly what it was. Only two places I know in this town that have dumped tons of money in an actual brick and mortar for this scene, and one of those places closed in 1987. The other one is still here and the reason I believe in him (and them) is because they have history in our scene and have shown where their heart have been throughout the years. Anybody else walking in to my town, in this day and age, pouring millions into something, and running to us, I have to be very weary about...they have to show me, NOT the other way around.

We still cool John, but you must know and understand your role and standings in this thing we love....

Ray. Thats what we do. The gigs I been involved with for the past ten years have been all about bar percentages. The amusing thing is that many of these owners looked at our black asses and were wondering how we were getting Japs and Guidettes in the door. Aint never paid a guarantee and we barely charge at the door. In fact, for every 1 dollar we do at the door, we expect to do 8 - 12 at the bar. We just try to associate with people that are willing to "pay for the real estate" In this city, where it costs 50 dollars to park ones car, one had better be willing to associate with a group of people who will pay to party in a space. Thats why the experience is still important. For me, it aint about the dj, the sound system, the lights, the flyers, or any of that. Its about all of it AND the venue has to be one such that folks are willing to spend money to be there. Thats how came up and thats how I will remain.

My only reason for slowing down was that I wanted my kids to know me. I was straight balling but I was losing out on watching them grow. I realized that one has to be there because childhood is fleeting. My ass got (barely) domesticated. Thats why cats will see me and a bunch of youts roll up to the Boardwalk events.

However, I still consult and have my hand in a few events around town. They all kick fucking ass too

    I regret nothing.

Its really disturbing to read some of the bullshit that cats are still trying to pawn off as shinola. I'm glad you are still soldiering on.

As for the charges against me, I am unconcerned. I am beyond their timid lying morality, and so I am beyond caring.

Bar guarantees are for fools. Never had one, never will. Primo #1 way to avoid working with people who think they are better than you.

    I like your non-jaded attitude.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A man died in the wee hours of Saturday morning at District 36, a midtown Manhattan nightclub located on West 36th Street.

The man was bleeding from the mouth — with several teeth missing — when he staggered outside and died 90 minutes later, police said.

Waitresses who saw the man at 3 a.m. first thought he we taking a cigarette break, The New York Post reported, but when he fell over they called security, who called police.

The man was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, authorities confirmed

I understand there has been drama with this space. And I know someone personally who recently experienced unnecessary drama while attending an event there and has vowed to never-ever return. But I've only been to D36 once, and I loved the space. I will definitely be going to this party. SYOTDF?

Anybody know if it's possible to buy advance tickets to this event on-line? I can't find where D36 has a working web site.

People stepping all over your shit, no maam no thank you.You say their is drama and people have vowed not to return hopefully alot will stay home and it will be space to move. I'll get the report from my friends who are going, if not too crowded i will come.

Same thing for Zentra here in Chicago, never understood why people continue to support a venue that makes it abundantly clear that people of color are not their preference..........
