Are you friendly with and do you speak to all of your coworkers?

Long story short and a short story even shorter. My manager who i am really cool with pulled me into the office because this girl who i work with told him i dont speak to her. I do speak to her but only if it's work related, she is a trouble maker. She has gone off on several facebook tirades about us being fake and phony in the department. Recently she went off again and i asked her on facebook if she was okay. Chick went bonkers, called me several expletives and said i and a few other coworkers are gonna be sorry when she goes off at work. I could have easily taken this to Hr as a threat i didnt because i think she is bipolar. She comes to me the other day because i dont say anything to this person unless its work related. She goes" i was going through something thats why i went off and so and so told me you said xy and Z. I told her she has my number, my email address and she knows where i live if she felt that way she could have contacted instead of going the facebook route. I made it clear in a nice way if thats possible that i expect us to remain professional but as far as a friendship i dont think its appropriate to engage in that at this moment.

The old Phc would have engaged back and forth with this person and it would have gotten ugly on facebook. I really just ignore her, when other people speak about her bad or good i just remove myself. I think what mom said is true when you ignore people it hurts them more.

nice to see you taking the high road, PHC. Let other people's drama be theirs. You might want to suggest the Employee Assistance Program or something cause you damn sure don't want anyone going on a rampage @ the office!

I don't mix work and facebook. If I work with you, then I will not be your FB friend. Out of the question. And it's for reasons just like what you're talking about, PHC. I don't even have my employer's name on my FB profile. I list my occupation but not the company name. I think you should ignore Miss Thing as much as you can and do like you've been doing and only communicate with her if necessary for work.

the root cause of personal and/or professional disfunction, is not a website ... but I digress

Maybe thats the problem mixing work with outside. I have become good friends with people at my job, and this person and i were on the way there. I tend to make my own decisions about people, but two other girls and her have had some beef in the department. Now i realize that these people are 24, 25 and i'm a bit more mature than that. Age can't always be used as an excuse. Then she goes i respect you, thats the biggest crock of shit i have heard in awhile lol. If i respect someone i would never come at them on facebook.

You want to get along with everyone. I feel bad for making her feel bad but i just can't get involved in this type of behavior. A person like that will do it again and again. I heard her talking about me the other day, The funny thing is she said i need to eat a dick, thats not an insult to me though, it gave me encouragement on how to spend my friday night.

Never said it was the root cause. But thanks for clarifying. We would be so lost without your point. Oh, but you digressed. Never mind.

you might be lost (w/ or w/o my point), but you could just go search the board for "coworker" and PHC and see what you find

I dont have the energy anymore. Its enough to deal with the stress of the job let alone her craziness.

If you have a "survival job" then don't mix with personal. If you have a career, then the two are probably inexorable at some point.

Walk the fine line, PHC--I wouldn't engage her too much. How petty is she? Don't answer that. LOL Carry on...this is a big world...y'all can co-exist without y'all having to be up in each other's space like that. Deaux yeaux beaux!

I'm cordial and casual with everyone, I'm tighter with some, but I keep it professional for the most part, people share too damn much of their personal information and wonder why they end up being the talk of the office............

Most peeps don't even say good morning to each other at my gig ... I got off the elevator a few days ago and smiled and said "good morning" to this chick in the hall she looked at me like I was crazy and didn't say a word!

I did that to the point where, folks HAD to speak to me.....never let my mood change...but I also learned those who were friendly in the morning and not..hell some days,my ass wasn't pleasant in the morning either...but I don't take it personal.
