James Harden was lucky he got hit in the back of the head instead of square in the face with that elbow - and MWP was lucky he just got seven games

A physically fit millionaire threw an elbow that hit another physically fit millionaire during a basketball game. Clutch the pearls.

I've seen muthafukas get cut for housin' cats on the bball court. You'd think more of you Nancy's would appreciate golf.

Kind of strange that a player with a concussion has to pass a series of tests before they can be cleared to return, but someone with mental health issues is not required to undergo counseling or testing before returning.

I'm really hoping for an OKC-LAL matchup in the 2nd round...

Kind of stranger how organizations have doctors and trainers and nutritionists but we never hear of team psychologists and therapists.

The NBA only likes its mules physically healthy, I guess.

Wearin' a Mohawk certainly implies one is tough enough to take an elbow.

Much less not get caught by one thrown in full view, out in the open. It wasn't exactly a Kermit Washington-style cheap shot, ya know. Fool ran into Artest's elbow.

Nope. As of 2010, only the Dallas Mavs, and the context is that of sports performance, not wellness. One in all of the NBA isn't saying much about the recognition of sound mental health in the game.

I was talking about sports in general but your info seems more recent than when I last was certain. In any case you are correct about the importance of that aspect being present and it being fucked up if it isn't

What does being physically fit have to do with taking a suprise, full throttle elbow to the back of the dome from a dude who's 6'7" and weighs 260?

1984 Playoffs, First Round, Nets v. Sixers, Game three: Michael Ray Richardson drives to the basket and completes an 'and 1'. A very excited Michael Ray pumps his fist, swings it around and hits teammate Otis Birdsong in the face. Took about 10-15 minutes to get Birdsong off the court.

I'm just being faceitous about it's place in the constant news cycle. It was flagrant. Don't know why it was a surprise, but I'll grant you that as well. Still, it's bball. It's sports. It wasn't an assault. It wasn't Rudy T and Kermit Washington. It was a brush off with an elbow. Cats actin' like Metta stalked him and beat him down. A 6 game suspension for being fired up. If his big ass wanted to attack someone, he could've done it, and a lot worse than it was.

Ron Ron has well over a dozen suspensions, I thought it was a matter of time til the next one.

While vicious I didn't think it was malicious.

He locked loaded and threw it and he knew what he was doing and he knew that he was going to claim that it was an accident because had he done as Danny suggested he would never make another dime in the game of basketball

Ron Dickhead Artest should have gotten another 86 games. Sorry, this was Kermit Washington all over again except this time we dodged a bullet

Folks should look up Basilar Skull Fracture. Especially severe blow to the base of the skull

Usually, the affected athletes are auto racers in serious crashes Artest could have killed this man, live on national television, and that's a fact.

This wasn't basketball, this was rollerball and folks are taking it way to lightly. Especially David Stern who should know better

As for the charges against me, I am unconcerned. I am beyond their timid lying morality, and so I am beyond caring.

Two teams out of X ain't many. I'm just quoting the NYT and some bball blog anyhow. I think everyone could use someone, myself. If the trend caught on, I'm happy.

Question is why did James Harden go to break up Ron's celebration of his dunk in the first place? That is what happened.

Mavs are the only team with a FULL TIME psychologist.. That doesnt speak to how many teams have full time therapists and how many teams have part time psychologists and therapists, or those contracted out by teams..but trusts..every team has something to offer for mental health.
