Elbow to the base of the skull is a possible death blow. Cats need to ruminate on what could have happened before they defend Ron Artest for acting like an animal (yes, an animal. Sentient beings don't "lose control" like that in a frigging basketball game)
you gotta ask, how does this happen, when kareem punched kent benson, it was after benson elbowed him in the solar plexus, kareem doubles over, catches his breath and then sucker punches benson, laying him out and kareem breaks his hand, kermit washington reacted to an opposing player running up on him hands raised and reacted, here, if harden makes a better basketball play rather than a slick play by trying to draw a charge on ron, which would never have gone in his favor since he was moving, he would have been called for a foul, lakers get the ball back with a chance for a four point play, so, harden was actually committing a violation, a foul on artest when he got clocked, like i said, ron has every right to clear out in that situation, he can't clear out harden's dome, but harden messed up from the jump

If players are gonna start attacking each other for drawing contact then the nba is in for some very short seasons. Harden didnt mess up. Harden was playing basketball. ALL of the blame for this resides with Ron Artest. He shouldn't see the court for the next year

    Stephen Smith actually making sense

As for the charges against me, I am unconcerned. I am beyond their timid lying morality, and so I am beyond caring.

While it is accurate that everyone on the court has a right to their position on the floor without being displaced, the high elbow is at best a technical foul and at worst, what happened to Harden - and then he made it worse by the ensuing Serge Ibaka confrontation so in any level of basketball, he would have had to go

Skip Bayless thinks Harden deserved to be hit in a way that "could have killed" him. His words.

    Yep

This is basic. Artest was wrong and his actions are indefensible. I'm surprised that Stern was so lenient. Especially given the current suits against the NFL

Ironically, in basketball official's terminology, cats like Ron are called "football players", i.e, the one idiot (usually fresh off the football season) if left unchecked can fuck the entire game up with nonsense like that - in Ron's case he can actually play (unlike football players who are just a big body and fouls) and has been playing well of late which make this all the more egregious
