    I'm really feeling this

House Shoes f/ Jimetta Rose "Castles (The Sky Is Ours)"

Man, I'm really feeling this joint... deep... come to find out this song is actually a dedication to a friend of the producer and singer, who they lost last November. It was released on his birthday. Dude's name is J1 AKA The Deer.
Having just experienced some loss myself the lyrics and the soulfulness of her voice singing these personal lyrics are very moving to me.
    Just thought I would share

I was feeling this enough that I wanted to wright out the Lyrics....

    Na-da na-da la-da la-da
    Na-da la-da la-da laa
Better vistas are coming into view
I saw a picture and it reminded me of you
The things we used to do
Love n’ laughter … Life in the sun with you
The rain will fade away, what pain don’t take away
Just pray I keep my faith
Cause life gets hard… resting on
But when I miss you, know where I’ve gone

Where there’s castles in the sky
We’d sit on clouds and talk about old times
How no one can take these days away
We felt the sky was ours
We’d sit and talk for hours

You said the sky was ours

What am I supposed to do?
With this pain in my chest
Strained cause I’m thinking bout you
But I, I’ll never regret time that was spent
So tragic was the magic of you
    Everyone will love you still..
The rain will fade away, what pain don’t take away
Just pray I keep my faith
Cause life gets hard resting on
so when I miss you, know where I’ve gone

Where there’s castles in the sky
We’d sit on clouds and talk about… old times
How no one can take these days away
We felt the sky was ours
We’d sit and talk for hours
(you’d look me in my eyes and you will say)
You said the sky was ours

I respect the sentiments of the song, but the music is so lacking something, to a point it's unlistenable to me.
    A remix is in order.
This music was made for stompin!

Agreed. Strictly my opinion, I would speed this up. Also, I can see this done with broken-beats...by the right drummer.
Glad they did this project in honor of their friend. Just trying to be constructive.
Dance as if nobody's watching you...and if they are...so what?

the signature Dilla slightly-off-time beat thing rarely works IMO
