REVIEWS:
Michael Fossati (Spiritofhouse.com – PICK OF THE WEEK) - First things first - congratulation to both MoreHouse Records and Groove Junkies for a decade of nothing but the best in soulful house music!!! And what a way to start celebrating the ten year anniversary than with the first collaboration of Groove Junkies' Evan Landes and songstress Baskerville Jones. The timeless soulful anthem "Born To Flow" is all about the vintage Groove Junkies sound and their love for music. The 'GJ Classic Vox' is utterly soulful yet truly infectious, with a spell binding funk soaked groove leading the way for Baskerville Jones' passionate vocals and luxurious keys which are taken to the next level on the 'GJ Club Mix.' Evan turns the heat up by stripping it down a bit yet keeping the feel soulful and melodious. South Africa's Shane D adds his signature soul-funk infused touch to the song, with remorseless rhythms, glamorous keys and vocals creating an irresistible vibe.
Dean Serafini (JJazProject.com) - When I first interviewed Evan Landes back in 2003 he said that one of the objectives for the then fledgling MoreHouse label was to introduce new talent to the scene. It’s fair to say that this has happened fairly regularly over the 53 release history of the label. Baskerville Jones is the latest voice to surface on a Groove Junkies production and it’s likely you’ll be hearing much more of her sultry vocals in the future. This has the classic GJs sound with live bass, compelling rhythms and beautiful keys all of which dovetail perfectly with Baskerville’s voice. Evan provides a “Classic Vocal Mix” and “Club Mix” while South Africa’s Shane D provides a stellar remix that’s punctuated by highly contagious keyboard chords. Now to the difficult part, deciding which mix to play…
Manutek (MixCollectors.com) - The Los Angeles based MoreHouse Records will soon celebrate its 10th Anniversary and only a month after the magnificent “God Bless The Child,” Evan Landes (Groove Junkies) is already back with a new production. “Born To Flow” is sung with flair by Latisha Baskerville, a singer with soul and jazz training who has worked on numerous projects such as with The Rebirth. The GJs Classic Mix features beautiful melodies, perfect arrangements and rich instrumentation. I especially like the keyboard work by Corey Allen. The piece combines sounds of soul, jazz and funk. A palette of choice! GJs Club Mix begins with an aggressive beat, some synth bleeps and leads without break on the first verse. A very strong mix that’s certainly effective for the dancefloors. Shane D delivers a great remix that’s pumpin’, deftly reworking the rhythm part and especially the bass, which takes a prominent place on this mix. Mastering is also very good, especially the vocal tracks. Work of genius! This is a release that should be high on the charts over the upcoming months.
Alessio Furia (Magma FM) – The vocals are amazing! Feelin’ the GJs Classic Vox. Bass melodies are working under the hot pad. The GJs Club Mix use a similar musical palette... but with more dancefloor energy. 90's sounds on the Shane D remix….sounds great!
