Maybe you can hitch a ride with that dj from Chicago after his gig there since he has to......oops, I didn't say anything, just go back to what you were doing.

....plan on not seeing home 'til Sunday evening July 6th.

Don't be dismayed by the length of the line;Just don't cut & you'll get in. Remember, it's a "suggested" donation; you don't have to pay. I didn't last year. ;)

no big deal though, i have met some interesting folks waiting on line

Yeah, they don't play at Summerstage. Once they hit the determined capacity for a show, they stop letting folks in and many get turned away. Even the most creative lies -- and I know, cuz I've told them -- will not work. Get there early and with some friends to pass the waiting time. They also will not let you find pals to cut in line. It wasn't always like that.

how early is it recommended to get a spot in line? Are we talking like 9am?

Last year I got there about an Hour or so before it opened. I thought from the place in line that I was in, that I was going to get cut off but I made it in and I got the best spot in front of the stage right by Uncle Mel. I think 9am is a bit extreme. But It's better to err in the planning than to regret afterward.

for Body and Soul, I remember picking up tickets early and then going back later for the event.

There'll be no opportunity to get tickets (I know is actually a free event) ahead of time that day and then come back?
