When Keith Hernandez was traded to the Mets in 1983, Davy Johnson talked Keith Hernandez into playing for the Mets in 1983, Because Keith Hernandez was ready to retire than play for the Mets in 1983/LOL, Keith Hernandez felt that the Mets we're wack and Keith Hernandez did not want to finish his career playing with a wack crew in 1983.

Keith Hernandez was a wonderful player, but he doesn't quite have the stats to be considered a Hall of Famer.
But if he was, I'm wondering if he would enter the establishment wearing a St. Louis Cardinals hat or a New York Mets cap.
For most of baseball's elite, and even those who spend portions of their careers with various squads, there is usually one team where a player spends a significant amount of time above all others.
For Hernandez, his playing career with the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets is evenly split right down the middle, making it tough to judge which team he would enter the hall with.
Of course, players don't get to choose, as the decision of which team a player enters the hall with is determined by the Hall of Fame itself.
Hernandez won one World Series title with the Cardinals, and also won one with the Mets. While he played ten seasons in St. Louis, and only seven in New York, he had four dominating seasons with each club.
Of his ten years in St. Louis, his 91 RBI season in 1977, and back-to-back All-Star-quality campaigns in 1979 and 1980, were his best besides a 1982 season that included 94 runs batted in.
Hernandez had three All-Star years during his seven year stint with the New York Mets, as he tallied over 170 hits each year between 1984 and 1987.
Overall, Hernandez had close to 300 more hits as a St. Louis Cardinals than he did as a Met. He also tallied 207 more runs and over 100 more RBIs as a member of the Cardinals.
On the other hand, he played in close to 300 more games with the Cardinals, so single-season averages may be a more telling statistic.
Defensively, it's a wash, as he won multiple Gold Glove Awards for both teams due to his stellar work at first base.
Hernandez has been a member of the New York Mets Hall of Fame since 1997, and many New York baseball fans consider him a "lifetime" Met because he's also been a broadcaster in the Big Apple since 2006.
If Keith Hernandez entered the Hall of Fame, would he go wearing a St. Louis Cardinals cap or a New York Mets one?
