Henry, The Un-written rules when it comes to battling during the 70's we're.
1.Never pull out a rhyme book, My man/LOL
2.Never bite a cats rhymes(Especially if a cat rests in your're neighborhood), My man/LOL
3.Never admit defeat, Even if a cat or crew are getting demo'd lyrically, Cop mad plea's(Exhibit A:The mic is fucked up, The Power/Equipment is fucked up, The Dj is Fucking up, Anything but admitting defeat, My man/LOL).

4.Never get on the mic poppin shit about another crew before a battle, Unless the cat poppin shit on the mic has mad respect in the community, My man/LOL
5.Never come to a battle without mad security and mad power/Equipment, My man/LOL

6.Never come to a battle without a piece of steel(A Pistol or two in a cats crates, My man/LOL)
7.Never come to a battle with your girlfriend(Because, If a cats girl is a hammer/Mad ugly/LOL, Cats will most definitely toast her on the mic, My man/LOL
8.Never start a battle with you're best rhymes, Save you're best rhymes after seeing what the other cat or crew has to offer first, My man/LOL.

9.If a cat's adversary has more rhymes and winning the battle, A cat has to go the call and response route to get the crowd on his or her side(Exhibit B:Like Busybee used to do, My man/LOL).

10. A cat or crew should be prepared for anything during a battle(Exhibit A:Shoot-out, Fight, Cops stopping the battle by telling cats to shut-off the music, Etc.

Skillz, The MC battles of today are more like Grudge matches, My man(Cats spittin right in a cats fronts/face, Cats getting mad physical while a cat is spittin/LOL, Cats crews behind they're man who is spittin, Waiting for something to sparkup in regards to static, My man/LOL), Skillz, Alot of cats today, Have no finesse on the mic to rock a party,

Battle, Rock plates/Records, And just spit with a beat or without a beat, My man, Skillz, Mad cats today all want to be hard on the mic(Though, The lack of finesse in regards to spittin rhymes that can get cats mad amped to party as well as battle is what alot of cats do not know about(Exhibit A:Moe and Caz we're the best at rockin a party in a park setting or spot as well as battling at the same party against a cat too, My man/LOL), Skillz, We both know during the 70's and 80's an MC had to rock a party first before

Anything for years before a cat stepped to another cat to battle, Unless a cat was poppin nonsense about another cat being weak on the mic, Then a cat has to go for his lyrically against a cat, My man/LOL, Skillz, Rockin a party has always been paramount before any other element of MC'ing, My man, Skillz, That's why so much respect is given to oldschool MC's like Mel, Moe, Caz, Dotta-Rock(Fantastic Romantic 5), Sha-Rock, Sweety-Gee, Mikey-D Etc, Because all of those MC's used to do it all(Rock parties in the parks, Rock on plates, Battles, Etc, My man).
