    The USGA US Open

Can Tiger come all the way back?

He's looking in fine form. As a guy who has been rebuilding his own swing since March and attempting to play through the changes, gotta say Tiger Woods has been fire walking, man. The searing pain to the ego sense that comes from sucking hard in golf is like no other - and I know pain. To go that route as best in the world? A lion, man. Sheer will.

I'm in LV and I saw the sportsbook feed on the ticker. Woods is going at the best odds 9-2. That was last night, however.

They are saying -1 or even might be the winning score for this tournament.

Yeah. It's a true US Open course layout and setup. Not like that easy track Rory McIlroy won on last year. That Open played like the Shriner's Justin Timberlake hosts in Las Vegas. If he doesn't repeat or even come close, they'll say his win last year was a gift.

McIlroy just isn't playing well - as many weren't last year

.. meanwhile a High Schooler is in the Top15 - doesn't seem that tough

Yea Mcilroy is looking like a Duval right now. As for the kid he looked good but once the weekend comes the amateurs usually fade. Kuchar did well as an amateur though.

That was a rout last year. Olympic Club ain't Congressional, tho'. Damn - you rolled through the US Open. That crowd had to seem like multitudes!

One year I was a Marshall for the Northern Trust at Riveria. Freddy Couples v. Mickelson in LA, down the stretch. It was like Moses and Aaron walking a whole nation of Jews right the fuck out Egypt. The people look like waves. I had to hold the rope while Ernie Els rolled through to #2 tee. He starts giving autographs and they just swarm him, like, out of nowhere. I had to go all velvet rope on 'em. "Aight! Get the fuck back! Get the fuck back! Ain't no guest list! Get the fuck back!" showin' my culture 'n shit.

An Open would have to seem like a mass evacuation 'n shit! That's a lot of walkin' in unison.

    ...
It was a beautiful day, and a great overall experience (and not just the golf)

Most of the day, I didn't roll with the crowd, I just hung back in the cut, in the shade, drinking brews, chatting w/ folks & networking - met lots of great folks all day

Funniest thing was I was sporting (as usual) my UConn (Basketball) T-shirt

... on the way to the tournament in the car, my boy and his Dad (and the rest of the folks in our crew) were trying to heckle me for wearing a basketball t-shirt to a Golf Tournament ... until on the course, these 2 folks (young lady and older dude (that turned out to be her Dad) rolled up to me w/ big smiles on their faces) ...

My Boy's Dad (as the 2 approached, pointing at me) - "See, they are about to get on your about your T-shirt too"
    Me - "That's OK"
    Older Dude - "UConn huh!?"
Me - "Yeah, I'm an Alum"
Older dude - "Well that's great, I'm on the Board of Trustees http://boardoftrustees.uconn.edu/members/ , we need to talk"
My Boy's Dad (in total amazement, and still trying to save funny-face, futily tries to undercut me, gesturing to the older dude) - "Oh, well, good thing he didn't wear the other T-shirt he said he might wear"
Older dude - "What shirt is that?"
Me - "Duke shirt ... I went there too"
Older dude - "Oh, you know our new President Herbst is a Duke Alum ... we definitely need to exchange information ... do you have a card?"
    Me - "Yep"
Older dude - "Nice to meet you ... let's talk next week"

... been in touch ever since
