Definetly The Dayton Gospelaires "God Helps Those Who Helps Themselves" on Savoy from 1978 (released as a 12-inch single)...also the classic New York Community Choir "Express Yourself" from 1977 and they also had another cut around 1982 called "steal away" or something to that order...Mighty Clouds Of Joy had a serious gospel cut that can move dancefloors called "God Is Calling" which came out around 1983 on Word (or perhaps the label "Myrrh") out of Waco, Texas, replete with a gut-wrenching vocal that is the icing on the cake. The Movin On lp by the East St. Louis Gospelletes on Nashboro from 1980 has at least a couple of danceable cuts in there as well as the ouput provided by Mildred Clark and the Melodyaires during the seventies on ABC Peacock...James Cleveland Presents The Stan Lee Revue from 1980 on Savoy is yet another recommendation i can make with at least a couple of club-ready picks....

if you ever see an album by Andrea Vereen And St. Marks Choir called "Oh Say Can You See" from 1974 on ABC Peacock...grab it! a lot of the songs in there are done in a heavy funk mode replete with wah-wah guitars...

not gospel but for uptempo classic r&b with inspirational lyrics, definetly i recommend Dayton's "Meet The Man" from their 1982 Hot Fun! album as well as Glenn Jones's "I Am Somebody"

don't sleep on gospel albums especially those of seventies vintage; the melodic and rhythm arrangements hold some dancefloor-friendly surprises...

the mighty clouds of joy 'its time' lp on abc/dunhill is outstanding - particularly the track 'mighty clouds of joy'. there's also 'mighty high', which i believe was an abc 12"
check out an abc compilation called disco hallelujah - there's at least 3 great tracks on there, inc inez andrews 'i believe in humanity'

the celestial choir's 'stand on the word' was recently released on a 'Larry' bootleg. the joubert singers version is also well worth getting.
