"looks so fine" is a delicious 1982 outing from instant funk...my favorite song is the slowly-paced song "gotta like that"...."give it to you baby" definetly sounds like a rip-off from "it's a love thing" which is not a bad thing..."why don't you think about me" is another good cut in there as well as "slam dunk the funk"...

speaking of Instant Funk, definetly look out for their last album called "Kinky" from 1983 specifically for the song "(Just Because) You'll Be Mine" which was given the Shep Pettibone treatment as a 12-incher...

girlfriday, welcome to the world of vinyl digging where duds and surprises abound....i consider it a form of low-cost gambling (if you stay on the cheap a la flea markets and thrift shops)....before long, these slices of vinyl will start claiming a lot of your previously-unused spaces..heh! heh! heh!

hope your week is a good one...by the way, have you've been shopping with Gene King???

yeah, i've heard about Montreal's status as a haven for vinyl scroungers from Gene and others...besides the heavy involvement Montreal was in underground disco, there was also a rumor that when the major record chains phased out vinyl towards the end of the eighties, a sizable amount of unsold stock went to Montreal....i got to hit that city one of these days and seek out some early releases on Unidisc and Quality/RFC..

give us a report of that Gene King party when you get a chance....enjoy!!!

ps -- about those "icy hot boys", Freeze heard about you coming to the WMC and he plans to outfit his measly Ford Ranger with spinning 20-inch rims just for you....if that's not love, then i don't know what is!

Anyhow, the party was slow... the temp. went down to -24 but the music was good but I now have the flu.
Don't know if I'll be at the WMC...it's the plane issue thing, but we shall see my mom says it's really hot in Fla .

GirlFriday, you have to give poor Freeze a try won't you? he pawned off the title of his ranger truck tooneof these "get-paid-ahead-of-your-payday" places and his k-mart/candy machine dispenser fake platinum jewelry to scrounge just enough collateral to aquire a loan for his new spinning rims.

seriously though, i hope you get over the flu fast and get your plane tickets situated to make it down here...scrap that below freezing weather! remember, you, Princess Tam Tam, and Jamie 3:26 need to perform your remake of "feel good party time" as a world premiere....the bootlegs will follow the next week!

coming out of Gene King, i would imagine his selection to be superb. he recently sent me these two prelude mixes that i enjoy very much...

anyhow, speak soon and break out of the cold spell and into the "FREEZE"....
