i've known house all my life, so what?
that doesn't mean i'm gonna limit myself to playing what people typically perceive as being house.

this is why i feel people who don't know the music get so bored with it. deep house can get boring and monotonous; case in point: there are plenty of dj's i hear on a regular who are blaze minions or MAW minions, playing all their music and not deviating. i love blaze, maw, don't get me wrong. but i don't wan't to hear just their production for a whole set. a lot of these cats i hear ain't got no style about what they beat. that's why i like the guy who put up a post about the white stripes. i went to check it out. i love my house music, but there are so many styles these days, beat it all. anything is game; if it's danceable, it's good, rock, new wave, the hot sh*t on the radio, house, it's all good. sticking to the subgenre of deep house is to easy and puts most people to sleep. vocal, vocal, vocal, 10 in a row, too formulaic, i'm going home. people tried sh*t in the eighties. Giles Peterson tries sh*t. so what he doesn't blend. he's comin with heat every trip. ron hardy is legend for trying things. dj rush is a legend in chicago for doing his thing in the early nineties. dig in the crates. pull out every tune you've ever heard in your life. chances are someone else is feelin you moreso than the boring dj that's playin one style all night. be a dj not a robot.
