KIRK DEGIORGIO
Having released records on virtually every cool record label known to man, Kirk moved from counter assistant at Reckless Records to global tech-jazz superstar over the course of many years of studio labours and record releases. He has remixed, recorded with, released records by, presented radio shows alongside and generally rubbed shoulders with electronic music’s A-list - Carl Craig, Aphex Twin, Black Dog, Coldcut, Derrick May, Dego, Marc Mac & Phil Asher just scratch the surface.
Kirk is currently co-writer and producer for the band The Beauty Room whose debut album was released in September 2006 on the Peacefrog label. Live shows at Cargo and The Big Chill were followed by acoustic sessions for Radio 1's Blue Room and Worldwide shows, Radio 2's August Bank Holiday Chillout Special and for Robert Elms' Radio London show - hosted by Sean Rowley. This project has enjoyed a massive amount of airplay and media interest.
Due for release in November 2006 is Planetary Folklore 2 the latest As One full length project on Italy's Archive label. The track Germanium will be released as a single in January 2007 with exclusive remixes.
Jerome Derradji /Biography
French Algerian born, Jerome Derradji moved in the America six years ago.
Now living in Chicago, Jerome created his very own independent label Still Music - a boutique label that has been making a few waves internationally since its inception. With early praise from DJ / producers like Laurent Garnier,Ame,Rainer Truby, Charles Webster, Mr Scruff, Michael Reinboth, and magazines like BPM, XLR8R, Grooves and Straight No Chaser to name a few, Still Music is proving itself to be one of the more exciting imprints around.
Still Music has strong ties with talents such as Frenchman Bruno Hovart aka Patchworks,Jazzanova, Isoul8, Phil Asher, Carl Craig, Marcus Worgull, Grupo X, Irfan, Paul Randolph, Gerald Mitchell, Markus Enochson and many others.
Still Music was also the first label to release a record from Amp Fiddler's Project CAMP AMP.
The labels other ties with Detroit were also strongly showcased on the excellent album (and forthcoming DVD) In The Dark.
This year, Jerome Derradji is launching his new imprint. PAST DUE , a label dedicated to reissues of ultra rare and uber cool disco and modern soul from the Midwest with some contemporary remixes by Charles Webster, Prins Thomas, Jazzanova with Henrik Schartz, Patchworks and a lot more...
As a DJ, Jerome has played and promoted countless parties in both Chicago, Detroit & Miami with acts like Carl Craig, The 3 Chairs (Moodymann / Theo Parrish / The Godson / Malik Pittman), Amp Fiddler, I:cube, Jimpster, Osunlade, Charles Webster and many others.
His eclectic style is similar to the music released on Still Music: from techno to afro via deep jazz and disco with a strong touch of Detroit House.
Jerome Derradji just completed his first DCD mixed compilation for legendary London based Slip n Slide label called "Slip N Slide presents: The Sound Of Still Music [Chicago]" to be released in January worldwide.
Jerome Derradji is back in the US after a successful European DJ tour and is gearing up for his upcoming dates in Manchester, Liverpool, Belgium, San Francsico, Japan & Australia.
Dj Striz bio
One of the windy city's most versatile DJs, Striz has developed a
reputation for funking up any environment with his unique blend of
downtempo, hip hop, broken beat, and house. Mixing broken polyrhythms,
live instrumentation and a heavy dose of funk, his genre-defying DJ sets
showcase the organic side of electronic music. Starting out in 1996,
Striz developed his crowd rocking abilities at college house parties
playing golden age hip hop. After moving back to sweet home Chicago in
2000, he co-founded illmeasures, a collective of DJs, producers, and
designers that has been keeping the local underground scene alive through
club nights (Madbar, Smartbar, Big Wig, Lava Lounge) and legendary
large-scale loft parties. Living in Madrid and his 3 year employment at
Groove Distribution (a jazzy underground record importer) opened his ears
to new styles of electronic music from around the world and expanded his
music collection to encompass a multitude of tempos and moods. His first
foray into production with long time cohort Justin Reed, titled Striz &
The R "Diced Hype", was released by Stockholm based Cartridge Records on
12" featuring remixes by Swedish tech-house guru Tony Senghore and
Chicago's Stax aka Abicah Soul. Recently Striz has been chosen to perform
alongside numerous international talents including Jazzanova, Diplo, DJ
Krush, Quantic, Bonobo, Truby Trio, and Bugz In The Attic.
Dj Justin Reed
With a bold and unrivaled DJ technique and an ear for brilliant music Justin Reed has been rockin' parties, clubs and lounges for over a decade. Not content to just play from song to song he considers DJing to be an expressive act. To that end, Justin's DJ sets communicate the creative potential of the DJ as well as of the producers of the records. To say that he is a versatile dj is a serious understatement. Over the last decade he has developed an passion for and extensive collection of Brazilian, funky, tech, disco and deep house, broken beat/nu jazz, Detroit and European techno, as well as midtempo and downtempo grooves. These qualifications make him one of the few Chicago DJs (along with fellow illmeasures dj Striz) able and equipped to rock a wide range of spaces from intimate lounges to mega clubs. One needs only to look at his extensive club and lounge experience to see that Justin's practical experience has mirrored his diverse and unique skills.
