State of the “Open Invitation” letter
Nearing six months in our new home at the Sangria Café on 16 Street, Mike & I would like to a moment and send a word out on were we be at. So I have come out from the Sanctuary of my life’s DJ Booth to share some of my thoughts.

First and foremost a word of thanks; I learned some time ago you can’t accomplish anything that makes a positive difference in our world today without help. I will start with Victor Martin (café owner) for providing the great venue to help keep the Spirit alive. Now the list, if you know anything about my memory for things other than music, you know I forgot somebody. I can’t mention you by name because well I forgot, however please forgive me. Here goes, Kim & Nat, Candice & Oya (who brought Mike I together), Puerto Rican Pat & Co. Victor & Bogie (who have supported sessions across state lines), Ayo & Birdhouse and Sam the Man for his inspiration, support and a place to play. Special thanks to the Set up Crew: Dana (the Anchor) Ms Kim (the venue stylist). Finally a big shout out to Scooter the Spirit Nourishing market place hostess.

After starting AfterLife at Dance Place, stumbling around in Adams Morgan we have found a new home at the Sangria Café in the Woodner on 16th St. in NW. The Building is a DC landmark with a lot of history. It was once a hotel that now serves as home to a variety of residences with its 1200 units. The idea of so many people on different paths under the same roof is part of what Spirit Nourishing enterprises is about, a coming together. The Café has a warm comfortable inviting feel. The full bar & Latin based menu provides a different backdrop than many of us are used to for the MUSIC we give you. It is a Sunday that is well worth the trip.

As many of us know the music scene for music other than Rap & Hip Hop struggles in some of the smaller venues. It is no different with Open Invitation, after countless comments about how the music they hear is so uplifting, healing and real good, we are still struggling at times. Another lesson I have learned in life is that we often don’t learn the value of things until after we finish them. For example with AfterLife Mike & I did not realize how or even what we contributed to the underground Dance scene in DC until after we took a hiatus. With the summer coming to a close after some reflection on OI, we are in this thing for the long haul. So stop on by so we can see your face and keep this thing going and growing.

Let me make this Crystal Clear for the challenged out there, "We have a PARTY going on"! The First Sunday of every month at the SANGRIA CAFE!! So if you're in town this weekend stop on by and help make something happen.

If You Do What You ALWAYS Did You Will Get what You ALWAYS Got!
