New:
1. ONIONZ, For those who know e.p., Aztlan music
A hard kick rider that progresses w/ congas and breaks into a hi horn sample that will scream to your audience, "that's right, that's the way to move it". On the flip side is a straight up jacker, ride it to the middle where your audience will be takin' into hip-nosis by a sampled latino vox.
2. Spencer Kennedy, Higher, Nugroove
I'm still trying to confirm if this is the same defunct Nugroove label that produced such "must haves" as Groove Committee I & II back in the early 90's. On the deep side we're given a ride by the bass and soft keys (groovier bass then a Naked track), a male vox then begins his explanation of love for his partner, "your takin' me higher". I happen to like the flipside a lil better. It's not to mello and not to hyper. A break beat, nu jazz feel with the same vocals and chorus.
3. Georgie Porgie, Loves gonna save the day, Vinyl Soul
QUIT HITTIN' THE SNOOZE BUTTON ON THIS LABEL! Billboard hits each time, YO! Barely off his success with "Life goes on". Georgie comes to us with another positive message in, "Loves gonna save the day". The original and Terry Hunters mix are my faves out of all 7 mixes. An anthem FOE SHOW BRAH! Other recomended Vinyl Soul tracks are Liquid 2000 (Terry Hunter), Aguas Puras (Papo), and Keep Thinking (Tony Cano's mix)
Oldies but Juicees
1. Masters at Work, Odyssey & I'm ready, M.A.W
Yep it's rereleased. I first heard Odyssey on a mix that Cevin Fisher gave me @ my first W.M.C. in '98. First the c.d. did'nt have a playlist, so I never new the name to this track. I heard it a couple months ago on another mix that my boy had and he informed me. I walked into the store a couple days ago and it's rereleased. Get it y'all, no description is needed for M.A.W.'s work.
2. Don Armando's Rhumba Band, Deputy of Love, Arista
If it's not in your crates yet, make it so. A disco classic that'll have everyone singin' it's title way after the party's over.
3. Gibson Brothers, Cuba, Island
"CUBA, Vamos a bailar la SALSA". Another disco classic that should'nt be collecting dust anywhere. Bust it out to bring back some memories. Mine keeps skippin' in the beginning but nothing I can't operate on (cotton swabs, rubbing alcohol, and prayin')
