Got a Mr. Fingers - Can You Feel It? vibe to it. Nice
That Metal Drum type sound has a melody just like something else also! Think it's some Acidy cut off DJ Deeps - City 2 City mix CD. ooohhhh just remembered....it sounds just Like DJ Pierre - Dream Girl
Nice

Hey Sean.
Diggin the track here early in the morning at work.
FeedBack: I'm no expert but;
I like the way you arranged the drums and the hats. Nice progression.
I think a nice snare bridge roll would come in verying nice when the drum track drops and the hats come in and out.
Although this is an mp3 file I would hope you bring that kick up and make it where the kick kicks you in the chest! Layer the Kick to widen the sound.
Also fine tune that pad you got going on and put some delay/flange or reverb effects on that synth solo. JMO
Last, I think layering the bassline (wicked bassline) to allow it to bounce with that kick you are going to fluff up.
I can only hear so much on these head phones but I will listen to it when I get home on the system.
I like the groove you got going on here.
I can hear this track being played in one of my sets as is.
Happy producing!

Yeah, I played some parts of it and it sounds like something else I heard but I can't quite pin point it. I'm not sure if it's Dream Girl or somthing else.
Thanks for listening.

Thanks for the suggestions Keith. Man, I wish I had a bigger mixer to run the drums into different channels. I only have a 4 channel mixer at the moment and that 707 has a pretty weak kick. It's all drum sounds from the 707 and I won't have enough channels to hook up all the drums individually. Which sucks because I wanted to add more effects to the other drums.Originally posted by DJ Keith Porter:

It's still very rough. The drum patterns I sequenced live. They are some of the left over patterns from another song I was working on.
When you listen to it at home let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Funny thing about it is that I made it on Valentine's day when I was depressed. I made it to cheer me up.

NICE!!!!
It realy sounds like a Gherkin Jerk classic,
I think it would be wise to layer the kickdrum with something snappy so it would cut more thru the bassline. Now the bassline masks the kickdrum and takes out the energy of the low ends. Other then that

i agree with beefing up the kick a bit. really what you need to do is eq it differently and it might be okay. either take out a bit of the bass in the bassline or take out the bass in the kick drum, depending on which you would rather carry the low end weight. then turn that kick drum up much higher in the mix!
aside from that, the pseudo steel drum sound just doesnt do it for me. the melody is okay, but i dont think the sound choice works well with the other sounds in the song (i also don't see the resemblence to dream girl...). overall though it definitely does have that old school fingers vibe (heavy 707 use will tend to do that) which is not a bad thing, but perhaps a little twist to make it more your own might be a good thing.....
Never tell me the odds.
This is Dope Sean!

I like it. I agree, heavier kick, but stay acoustic. At 2:00 you have a ride cymbal come in. At the end of beat 16 I expected a percussion fill then into beat 17 with more percussion then building further with more energy. You took it down again swapping out instruments. Though I like the overall arrangement I think you lost out on an opportunity at that point. That's how I felt it, anyways. YMMV. Still, nice job.
I'm loving it. I think it just needs a bit of reverb & delay, especially on the "steel drum" sound, to make it sound a bit bigger. Also edit out the dry, solo kicks at the end.
