Ello!

it might be usefull for interested participants in this forum to list their gear and experience...

so for starters! ;)

my current gearlist:

- Roland Juno6
- Roland JP8000
- Oberheim Matrix1000
- Waldorf Pulse

i use software a lot, my main DAW is currently Steinberg Nuendo 1.6 ... furthermore Reason 2.5 is in heavy use, and plugins like Oddity, Battery, DR008, Absynth etc..
you can say i try to combine the best of both worlds, analogue hardware with software plugins and recording..

i am a beta-tester for the Propellerheads, using reason from version 1beta upwards..... currently also investating samplitude 7.2 as an alternative for Nuendo....

i work a lot with a friend of mine, we "share" music equipment and experience so i also have experience with the following gear:

-Mackie Universal Audio UAD1
-Macbeth M3x analogue monosynth
-Alesis Ion
-Yamaha RS7000
-Focusrite mixmaster
-Soundtracs Topaz mixer
-Genelec monitors

furthermore i sometimes do freelance consultancy for companies like Numark and Native Instruments....

we own a recordlabel that releases our own music and the music of other people we like.... www.springcollective.com for more info, we do our own mastering, mainly with the UAD1 plugins and sometimes with the focusrite mixmaster....

currently i am also investigating max/MSP by cycling74, especially together with the vinyl-control from www.mspinky.com

that's it..... start asking ;)

Seashell, zipper, tap dancing shoes, rubber band,
4 track and a dream to change house music forever.

Tee-hee.

I have an mpc 2000, and just got a used Mac G3 with pro-tools and cubase a few days ago. I have my digidesign rack so I just need one of those dry synths to hook up to my rack so I can finally start doing more of what I want to do.

i went to school for audio engineering in the early 90's

i've got a fairly large collection of hardware from the mid 80's on, but these days i'm primarily working with software

my usual working environment is Cubase SX, Reason 2.5 (rewired to Cubase), and a big assortment of VSTi's

most of what i do is more on the quirky and experimental side and is stuff i do for my own enjoyment without the intention of release beyond my friends, but lately i'm working on stuff that i think will have a broader appeal and i'm hoping to release some of it soon. i've been creating music since 89/90
To much gear wont help your creativity,,, the right gear wich suits the needs of musical mind will. I see some overspecified stuff in your list olaf. Let me know when you gonna get rid of the Matrix 1000 and the DX200

Eargasmic Studio's (my computer ;) )

- Korg MS2000 analog modelling synth. (i use it as a midi-controller keyboard as well)

- Reason 2.5
- Moog Modular 1.2
- Spark XL
- Peak 4
- Absynth 2
- MOTU DP4
- HALion 2
- Logic 6.2.1

i've been messing around with this for about 7 years or so.
originally i taught myself how to sample and program beats on an EMU SP1200 which my brother in law had (i had no manual, so it took a while to get it down). then graduated to my buddies MPC2000 about 2 years later. eventually i purchased my own MPC2000 which i had for about a year and a half or so. i sold that to Alex Zen so i could upgrade to the MPC2000XL which i eventually sold to purchase the computer i'm typing this on right now, Power Mac G4.
at home i use the above mentioned software and synth, when i'm collaborating, i use my partners Alex, and Daryl's gear. Daryl's Powerbook G4, Logic and Reason software, an MPC2000, and Alex's analog drum machines and synths.
