I'm trying to help a friend to restore his computer, but the external hard drive and external (scsi) cd rom won't appear on the desktop. How can I get the devices to appear?

    CG,
just reboot the mac holding the shift key.
If not working, put in the CD-reader the OS installer CD-rom and reboot the mac holding th "C" key (means that it will restart from the "C"-Drom).

Tell me what happens and if it worked.

Thanks! I had the wrong CD in it. It was a G4 restore and I needed a OS9 CD. Got it and it work. Thanks Again.

Charles, the game is just beginning...
Will you have to clean up the Hard drive ?
If you reinstall everything, you should slice the HD in 2 partitions to gain power, get much organized and avoid any loss of files.

If you need to reinstall the whole system, just ask me and I will guide y, it's easy and really needed !

    You're welcome
