I know this sounds like I took a couple hits of that strange shit, but I was watching a documentary on discovery and they had a special about music and how some folks can actually see music. They see certain colors and patterns for certain frequencies. They mentioned that some of the greatest artists that have lived, have this gift and this helped them in creating what ever masterpiece they were working on. What do you think about this?

Hello Jesse Davis, David Mancuso posted a similar topic before so you don't sound like you on anything but a music groove....

I have experienced that a few times but it was more with shapes.

I imagine people like Stevie Wonder live in that world...

I think they call it the "Minds Eye". I read the article that David Mancuso posted, and the people basically stated that they know the actual Shapes or colors are not present. Over time they have used association to maybe heal themselves or get past somekind of disability, or its just a disorder they say. Whatever the case it seems like a great tool for understanding and describing the feeling of music.

    Peace,

    Jesse

maybe it sounds weird... but i have it, i always did. i used to play "real" instruments and each chords had it's color to me, even when i hear songs i see colors... i thought that was natural till i started to read here and there about it and realised its not. i think that it's a thing that "too-sensitive" people have... but i donno for sure...

It dosnt sound weird at all. I just thought people were going to think I was crazy. After reading the article I know that I have a mild case of this. I associate diffrent shades of blue and purple to lower frequencies and brighter colors to the higher end. And if the frequencies are smooth I might see round shapes or so on. Anyways, Its cool that you posted.

I also "see" music but by colors. Some of the Kerri stuff for exemple is "purple". And sometimes before the record is release I imagine the color of the center of the record and it's the same color as i imagined before.

Don't know why I see colors in music but it's an interesting topic

    Thanks

I've said that before about the center of a cut. Even when your putting a set together you can see a trend in colors. I guess its all art, it makes sense.

    Peace

I've heard that's why Jimi Hendrix played with his eyes closed, he was seeing the colors in the music.

For all of you that don't know ...I am a chiropractor. I use music therapy in my practice. People do not realize the tremendous amount of emotion that is brought out by music.

Dr. Andrew Weil who is a MD and natural/alternative medicine doctor who released a few meditation CD's that take you through different levels of consiousness with music. It is wild!

During these sessions you see a lot of shapes and colors in your mind "mind's eye" while listening to the music.......It is very healing, and I believe it helps foster creativity!

    Thats my 2cents

    peace
