Has anyone ever produced a house track solely with an MPC (excluding any post-processing for effects)??? I have an MPC and old Yamaha DX27 synthesizer (remember that word) and want to bang out a house track (not for radio, but for me).

Anybody??? Are all these beats done in software? And, how do they make kicks sound so non-punchy. The only way I can explain my question (re: kick) is to say how a sound is when you bring it in from 0-fullonVolume with a slider. I've played with the attack on a kick and it's not the same. Oh forget. Nobody's going to understand what I'm saying.

Heck, while I'm at it. Anyone no how to use SWING on an mpc???

1) i'm sure someone has produced a house song solely on an mpc

2) a compressor will kill the dynamics of a kick if that's what you need to do

DJ shadow made a whole album by only using the MPX and samples.

MPX=MPC offcoures in previous post.

Then swing option works easy. Just hit the open button on the timing option (1/16). And selecte the amount of swing. Now if you record some notes you will hear the swing when you play it again.
This feature is nice when you make beats with the pads and put th enote repeat funktion on hold.

You can also add swing to existing midi data.
Just go to the track and then again go to the timing screen.

I produce house tracks and I am using a MPC 2000 currently and MC303 recording it all into a laptop! Pretty bare bones huh? Well I dunno about swing and all that techno jibberish. But, It is higly possible to at least construct excellent house 4 on the floor beats. I have read that Kenny "Dope" Gonzales from MASTERS AT WORK has created many classic cuts using the AKAI MPC, he is said to have 2 MPC 3000's an XL and various analog gear. Dont despair get out that MPC and make so floor fillers!!!

I produce all my music on an mpc2000. It's a monster when you really get into it. I also use cool edit for time & pitch shifting and recycle to cut up beats....

I've heard people use the term "cut up beats" before and I am still a little confused. Can you explain this process and direct me to a link of something you've made?

cuttin up a beat.........say you sampled 8 beats from an old supremes track.....well in recycle (similar to soundforge) you can slice tis sample up into zones much like u can on the mpc...so essentially your 8 beat sample can be turned into two slices, or 4, 8, 16, whatever hence cuttin or Choppin up the beat.........

i have many tracck that i have made using only an MPC.
i love that machine but i sold mine so i can get my Mac. i can't wait to save up enough to purchase another MPC. the sequencer is unbeatable IMO. just ask Glenn Underground, another head who swears by the MPC sequencer.

i don't use an MPC but i have an MPD16 which is basically the drumpads of an MPC that send out MIDI information.......very cool especially whith something like Live to trigger clips!
