Aiight Family I would like your feedback on this... It really has been bothering me...
Now for the record I have very specific socio-political views and dictate my strong affinity for my own African-American heritage. However, I treat people on a one on one basis and how they interact with me.I dont encounter an entire race when meeting individuals, so although I have very strong feelings about OUR history in deez here United States; I recognize that everone is an individual and deserve to be treated on their own merits... That being said.. this is what happen'd to me yesterday.

I was picking my son up from my sisters and as we were getting into my car, another car back'd up and hit my car (driver side rear panel). My sister was standing at the Trunk.
Rocked it pretty good and did some nice damage.
2 Latino gentlemen got out of the car. The passenger spoke very good english and apologised.
I was calm and said no big deal we can just exchange info and handle it from there. The Driver did not speak english very well. I got my insurance info.
I asked him for his drivers license with my info in my hand ready to exchange our info. He says his driver's license is in their house. He walks to the house... He was in there for a while. I aske the other gentleman where did he go. The passenger guy started laughign, said this was no big deal and said that he could take care of it... *okay my radar is on high alert ...right?* I told the passenger guy, no problem I just need the driver's info. I.e License and insurance stuff. moments later a Lastino woman comes out of the house that the driver enter'd. She introduces herself, I do the same. She informs me that its her car, and he was her husband. I said fine I just need his info. She proceeds to call her insurance company. My sister and I realize what was going originally I wasnt trying to call the police... wasnt necessary. But that changed. The refused to give me the info of the driver, the Latino lady gives me the phone to talk to HER insurance company... My sister calls FiveO. Insurance lady on the phone tells me the Latino lady says she doesnt know who was driving her car...
The guy doesnt have a license!! I tell the police what happens. They talked to me and my sister then the Latino group. They tell the police that they didnt do it!!! LOL My car was already damaged. *Thank God my sister began taking pictures as soon as it happen'd and she got a pic of the car's position in relation to mine before they moved it!!!*

Okay so Im pissed off now... We are talking to the police... they find out the guy is prolly an illegal immigrant, no license ... on a VA id.with the name Alexis Barahona.

So far, he has NO Driver's license, she gives false info at the scene of an accident. Which to my knowledge are infractions that result in being jailed especially the driver's license thing!
I asked for a report to be written. The police officer ( WASP) tells me and my sister He doesnt think that is necessary. and then says unless I insist... I tell him... I INSIST!!!
He enters their home, nothing in hand... comes out 5 mins later and hands me a form with the guys info. No report #... no tickets at all were issued to them ....

I left disgusted!
I told her to contact the police station on a 3 way call.
My sister waited for the police to leave and called the Police station and asked for the Major. He came back out to her house... and he went to their (The Latino couple) and issued tickets to the guy...

NOW... My issue is ... WE (Black Folk) rarely get those congenial type of cops who minimalise the sitch, and just want to do very little paper work.

brothas get lock'd up on the spot for a whole lot LESS...

The cops that were there did everything in their power to ignore the situation. And refused to lock up or issue tickets to any of the Latino people.

feed back please!

sucky situation. i am still trying to recover from my car issues from three weeks ago.

thoughts on your situation... this could happen with anyone who is from outside of the US. the situation is not specific to the people being Latino/a heritage.

hang in there. do your best to protect yourself without needlessly trying to punish the other party.

good luck. ;)

Re-Dail 911, ask for a desk Sargent to come to the scene, tell him/her whats going on, have them do it.
I agree with you on that, I had a similar disposition with Chicago PD. They act as if the shit was funny, until I called 911 back and told the operator that the police on site wasnt doing there job and I was the one who called the police at first.
Some chicago cops are Ass! I have a lot of family members who are cops, so they give me the low-down on everything.
I had one white officer ask me where the dope was in the car at, I just replied "In white suburban neighborhoods with the gun's". He didnt think that was funny, but it wasnt nothing that he could do.

To be honest if dude had been str8 up with me, instead of trying to dodge giving me his license ... I would have been cool and would have agreed to let them pay out of pocket for the repairs. The way I figure it... Black folk and Latino Folk are in "this" together. But unfortunately I am being shown time and time again that the affinity I may feel toward them as "a people of color existing in a racist country" isnt reciprocated.
Its almost like there is a Negro-Handbook issued to the Latino, Asian, and Indian poplus' during they trip over here. And we are treated thus accordingly...

I love my Latino Bro's and Sis's... Hell Im often asked if Im of Latino descent (can neither confirm no deny) But I am encountering preconceive ideas from them about "black folk" more and more

honestly,
my mom got into a car accident a few years ago and this Mexican couple hit her car from behind. Mind you that we are Mexican's if you didn't know ;) .
anyways, it was clearly their fault and they exchanged info. No witnesses or anything, just taking each others word that it was the couples fault.
Anyways, when insuranced called, they told my mother that there were was 1 witness saying that it was not the drivers fault. They were saying that a man was standing on the road and saw the whole thing. My mother later found out that the couple told their insurance company that the female was driving by herself and the man that WAS supposed to be in the car never was. He played the role as the witness who was on the road and denied he even knew the lady driver.
My mother was pissed cuz she knew they were lying. At the end, they got away with it...she did get her stuff fixed but it surely seemed as though the insurance adjusters, police, lawyer and everyone didn't really give a damn cuz accidents happen all the time.

</font>
I hear you... but the reason Black people get treated like we do by the police & justice system has nothing to do with these folks being latino/a. That's all i'm trying to get you to remember. They are not the enemy. It is the f@cked up justice system that's at fault.

We did that ... We had a Major/Sergeant come out and do it properly. I wasnt trying to get homeboy locked up... or even ticketed... But they st8 tried to carry me like I was a dumb nigger. The officer saw my sisters husband in the door and asked if he was the father of my nefew who standing with her... She said that is my husband and what does that have to do with anything officer?

Honestly, if she would had pulled me to the side ... gave me the run down ... all would have been cool. Im a militant at heart and I aint trying to shaft my folk...But rather than try to deal the sitch she tried to whore a Bovine

the bottom line is, these people get paid the same amount of money no matter how much work they get done. it's also very difficult to have them terminated therefore, they take it for granted.

most car incidents are the responsibility of the drivers involved unless there's bodily injury. you should've just taken the license plate info and stepped without the drama.

let your insurance company handle the rest. that's why THEY get the big bucks. let them chase after these fools.

If I was her I would gave you my drivers license and said tell the insurance company I was driving.

This reminds me of a incident that happen to me. A mexican guy ran into my car. The front bumper was damaged a little. Police came and told us to go to the station around the corner. I didn't notice he was drunk, but his dumb ass came stumbling into the station. He should have told from the get go that he had been drinking. I would have just got his info and left. They gave him a DUI test right in the station. He failed it real good.

Sorry to hear about what happened. Sounds to me like you were dealing with some lazy cops (not wanting to deal w/ paperwork or involve INS). It looks like the lady was blinded by the fear of her husband being deported then being smart & taking your offer to deal with it between each other. For that she gets the "Pendaja" award. fear makes people do alot of "pendejadas".
