??? for you regarding JW..

I have a co-worker JW.. He said that the only grounds for divorce is adultry..

We asked him how about if the woman is being beat by her husband.. His response.. If GOD didn't want her to marry him and go through that she wouldn't.. So NO that is no grounds for divorce she must stay and endure the beatings.. This is the belief of JW according to him.

Tell me that isn't so. JW doesn't teach this

I know scripturally the only grounds for divorce is adultrey Matthew 19: 3-9, but I also know that it says at Ephesians 5: 28-29 that Husbands ought to be loving their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself, for no man ever hated his own flesh, but he feeds and cherishes it, as the Chirst also does the congregation. I know that if he is a Baptized brother who is beating his wife, he would get counciling from the Elders and if it continues he would be disfellowship. Now in the case of a sister who is not married to a brother and if her home situation is life threating she would have to leave and hope her husband can take a turn for the better, or he commits adultrey. This is the scriptual way of doing things. So he shouldn't have said that if God wanted her to be in that situation. She just married the wrong man. If he was a man of God he shouldn't be beating his wife anyway. JW's don condone enduring the beatings if it is life threating the Elders and congregation would do whatever it takes to make sure the sister was safe.

Ok I just re-read this.. So basically he is right.. she can leave but has no grounds for divorce..
