i'am a huge fan of Akira Kurosawa ( generally very much into Asian cinema - did anyone mention John Woo?)

I'am surprised not seeing INGMAR BERGMANN movies on anybodies list ( maybe i oversaw it not knowing the englisch titles )

i'am also very much into british comedies like
- Arsenic and old laces
- Kind heart and coronets
- Ladykillers

- Fritz Lang: "M"
another firm favourite:

Jean-Pierre Melville's " Le Samourai " with Alain Delon

- "le salair de la peur"

I mentioned 'Cries and whispers' that's a Bergmann flick...
I really dig Kurosawa too, he's one of my favourites.
And about Fritz Lang, do you mean 'Metropolis' with 'M'?

sorry, like i said i don't know the english titles ;)

according to imdb.org the english title of the Fritz Lang flick is : "M - the Murderers are amongst us"

it's about the hunt for a child-murderer played by Peter Lorre who is incredible in this movie - SCARRY!
( i'am surprised to see that this movie ranks at #50 in the imdb top 250 movies - sometimes even the masses have taste )

Hi Ashaki, I just saw Sex with Lucia last week, I loved it! It was so wonderfully done, what did you not like about it? </font>
I didn't like how the story kept shifting...and I really wanted Lucia to hook up with enormous dick Carlos...It took a while for me to understand what happened to Luna...and I still don't know what happened to Belen...all in all I guess it was okay and maybe I need to rewatch it...
</font>
I kept rewinding periodically througout the film (that damn plot). I couldn't figure out what happened to Belen (killed by the dog??)either?

gf....can u help us out?
</font>
okay this is what happened Corwin....

Remember Belen and Lorenzo were babysitting Luna...they were getting freaky when Luna walked in and the dog came out of nowhere and Belen shut the door on Luna and the dog and the dog mauled Luna to death...Belen went crazy after that I believe....and so did Lorenzo...

what was the deal with Belen , her mom and Carlos being wanted by the cops?
</font>
Oh shit...how did I confuse Luna and Belen??? I really need to rent it again.

HOT flick, nonetheless.

Thanx Ashaki and gf. ;)

I have a soft spot for "Black Orpheus," a rendition of the classic Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice set in 1950s Rio de Janeiro during Carnival...

My alltime favourite film is K. Kieslowskis 'La Double vie de Véronique' (The Double Life Of Veronique). It took me many years until I could say something like that, but when I saw it the first time...I was totally + + =

I'll post more later but this is the one for me.

not sure if last tango in paris is a foreign film, but i did see it. it was a bit weird. it left me with a lot of angst because of all the tension: sexual and suspense-plot wise. the end was kinda sad... in that hold-on-to-your-love kind of way.

p.s. tie me up, tie me down was a great, weird flick.

If you like Sex with Lucia , you should try to check out other movies by this Spanish director..I've seen most of his earlier stuff, and thinks it's even better then his latest. Titles to check out are : Vacas Locas, Tierra, L'Ardilla Roja, El Circulo Polar...

Nice list David ! I especially like that Black Cat, White Cat movie..I've got that soundtrack here and it's pure madnes, just like the movie..Some other good movies from Europe : Before the Rain, 27 Missing Kisses, Beshkemptir, JallahJallah.

greetings
peace

I must add
Peter Greenaways "Pillow Book"
I am sure that movie inspired a lot of body painting sessions. BTW ink is impossible to get out of your sheets.
