Most of the record stores that I go to dont have their carts/styli aligned properly and they rarely have the correct weight either. Usually the weight is turned around to the max(hip hop style) and the cart/styli is pointing accross the groove rather than in it.
I expect my secondhand buys to have surface noise etc but when I pay for a new piece of vinyl I expect it to be new not damaged.
What are your thoughts, is this common in shops that you buy from.
p.s I've also heard that once a record has been played you should wait at least an hour or so for the grooves cool down to avoid damage. Is this going too far?
