Her explanation was, it was just a lame attempt at humor.

Since she's apparently the pride of some camps, I wonder how many of them are gonna call her on it like they would G. Bush or some other obviously jack-assed politician. I think its a completely foul comment, clearly racist and rude, and her explanation of it is even worse.

I was just tryin to make a joke Billy Bob and the explanation wasn't related to the fact that it was a foul comment to make, but that it just wasn't that funny.
