After my latest remix project my right wrist is killing me ( please no masturbation jokes ). My little home studio is pretty basic but I was thinking about getting a control surface so I don't have to use my mouse all the time to control volumes. I use pro tools le with an mbox2. I wanted to save alittle money and not do a full upgrade to a digi 002 or 003. I went to digidesign's website and they listed a few compatible controllers. I'm thinking about getting a mackie hui. It's discontinued but listed on digidesign's website. Is anyone on here using it with their setup and are there any problems. I'm using Pro Tools LE 7.0 on OS X 10.4. Just doing some ebay browsing it looks like you get one for about 500 to 700. Or should I just spend alittle more money and get a digi 002 since the digi 003 is out the price may drop. Thanks for any help.

How much are you looking to spend?
Are you looking for a motorized fader control surface?
Short list:
Evolution UC-33 Novation Remote SL Zero M-audio project mix I/o Presonus faderport.
I had the UC-33 and now have the novation. Both are great control surfaces that work well with Protools. Like the novation better; nice LCD readouts, automapping feature, more controls, better layout. you can get one with a keyboard also, cool for ableton live or reason.
Haven't used the Project Mix by m-audio. heard some good things about it. For the price ($1600) might as well buy the Digidesign 003 though.
The Presonus faderport is relatively new. Have only read a couple of articles on it. A couple of companies have come out with these one fader controllers. Seems a little limiting but I have yet to use one and see all the options it has.

Thanks for the input, I was looking to spend about 600 or so(getting married this year and my DJ budget has taken a hit). I might just try to wait it out and see how much the digi 002 console drops now the digi 003 is out. Maybe I can ebay the mbox2 and just get that.

The novation zero comes in at 300 bucks. also comes in seveal different versions with a keyboard starting at around $400.
I wouldn't be suprised if they phase out the digi002. Keep on eye out for closeout sales. you might even be able to find a good used one online at E-bay.
Congrats on getting married.
