Let's give the rich more money in a tax cut, after all they won't be going to heaven. Remember Jesus' words, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
Seriously though, many Americans support the repeated tax cuts for those who don't need it because they believe themselves to be in that upper 2% who would benefit. Something like 20% believe they would benefit from it. That means 18% of well-off folk are fools. You have to make over $300,000 annually to bin the upper 2%.
Many Americans believe the trickle down nonsense (willful ignorance). The saying is, sh*t rolls downhill. The tax burden rolls downhill, that's what's trickling down from folk who won't pay their fair percentage. Only a fool believes money rolls downhill. Remember Hoover's great tax cut and the Great Depression that followed? Remember Reagan's tax-cut and the tripling of the national debt. I'm sure we can blame Clinton for those.
Einstein defined insanity as trying the same thing and expecting different results. Using a tax-cut benefitting those who need it least as a means of helping the economy is insanity. Or it's a barefaced lie.

I have a comment on this, which could add something to the background; this expression does indeed find its origin in the time of Jezus but it is not what it seems... The "needle" was actually a nickname for a very narrow gate in the city of Jeruzalem, a fully packed (rich) camel could not pass through it without first unloading it (or to leave behind the earthly goods)... hence the expression.
have nice day!

Totally with you David. What really irks me is that Bush says something like
"This tax cut will help the average american man find a job"
As if its a direct effect!! There is very little indication that the tax cut will generate any consumer spending. most of those people have refinanced their houses with the low interest rate environment, they dont want to risk the stock market again so that money is going straight into savings accounts across the nation. And do absolutely nothing to the economy. Except increase the deficit.
Its an absolute travesty.

Already the cutbacks are affecting us all...The rich complain of paying too much in taxes, yet they fail to see that taxes have already been cut DRASTICALLY in the past 20 years. The current highest bracket is 38.6%, yet in 1980 it was 77%!
Even with those levels of taxes, we experienced the period of highest real growth levels the country has ever experienced (the 50's and 60's).
Enough Complaining!
Peace, Juan

even Warren Buffet (wall st. guru, fund manager, and rich as hell) agrees that this tax cut mostly helps the wealthy. Here's a link to his 2 cents...it's a good breakdown of the dividend cut's real effects and how it's another case of voodoo economics...

this is crap. i keep thinking my mom's a waitress and they tax her tips. money given voluntarily. the money that actually pays the bills and these f***ers stand to make some good money back. not the 9 to 5ers who need it, but these a**holes many of them in bushes office. and bush has the nerve to ask the public to keep spending to help boost the economy. screw you. how about hiring back the 3000 teachers that are getting laid-off. i can see how this will help people get jobs. ![[drunk]](graemlins/all_coholic.gif)

You are correct. The rich won't enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Good words, David. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
