Yes Tee or that Hole in the Wall greasyspoon across the street.. OH SHit.. it was a funky pimpjunkie bar across the street that sold weed [thumbsup] [Smile]
Hold up that greasyspoon had the best fish sammiches. . .hold up I'm really flashing back now. . . man I used to come out of Zanz about 11 a.m on a Sunday in the 80's. . . . sometimes Tee Scott would still be killing it. . .but I knew at 11 a.m. I could get some of that whiting before I jumped on the 49 bus home. . .
See, now I miss the kitchen at The Peppermint. That was a cool spot, the old heads would be up front in the bar area, the dance club was in the back and the restaurant/takeout was on the side. Damn shame that place went down the way it did after the original owner passed.

Speaking of greasy spoons, can't tell you how many nights on our way back up the hill we'd stop at the ole Harris Diner for some late night grub, mmm, mmmm, good! [Smile]

I lived in there too..The Mint..The Peppermint..
was the spot.. I used to get food to take home before the kitchen closed [Big Grin]
Hey Leslie we partied at the same spots.. I have to meet you I might already know you other then being on this site...

We have definitely crossed path's at some point - LOL!

Wait, what was that spot in Orange across the street from Sir Richard's? Yes I admit I got dragged to the show at Sir Richard's and saw the infamous Outlaws! [Cool] You gotta be from Essex County to even know! [rofl]

Okay now you all up in my thang! [rofl] The People's Choice - owned by my very dear friends family. Don't forget the Hollywood Lounge on So. Orange Ave. Sonny Oliver's Flower Garden - burned down I believe. Sophisticated Ladies and Gents, then of course Burt's Living Room. All these spots had dancefloors and folks would be up in there partying. Stuff Magazine anyone?? [Big Grin]
Crab Night at Town Talk on Central Ave.. [Smile]
Crab Night at Keen Korners.. [Big Grin]
Marlos, the dance floor is always PACKEDPACKED to the ASS!!! music is bangin.. [thumbsup]

the Fox Trap my friend Jazz is or was the bartender there.. and the women would give you the look of death if you were a new piece of coochie in there. [mad] "who U"
Lets not forget Ms.G's.. omg! that place had good music but small is the floor.. Zante's that is a cool spot.. Devert Ross is the DJ there and he spins house music if you ask.. [Big Grin]

I deserve to be slapped, but I was hoodwincked and bamboozled that night - along with drunk but we won't talk about that....no Sir Richard's was on Main Street in Orange a few doors down from the Rickles (now Forman Mills) & Wendy's. what was that spot across the street - wait - Club Pyramid, same side of the street as Vannoy's Liquor Store.

Yeah, I was born in 1974, blame my parents.
Actually, I did get to go to the Mirage once or twice. Sterlings as well. I never went to Zanz until they "reopened" around '94 or so. Really, my first true clubbing experience was Shelter around '92.
Of course I went to black box, the Mint, and a couple of others mentioned, but those were around more recently than the others.

Does anyone remember a cat who used to host some of the early Shows at Zanzibar(At 4-5am in the morning, Like The Garage used to do/LOL), In the early to mid 80's named Lamont Boles(Very short lightskinned cat), Also, Club America used to rock mad hard too in the mid to late 80's when i used to hangout there(At least Club America stayed open till 6am/LOL), I don't know who the

Regular cat was who mixed at Club America back in the mid/late 80's, But, I remember cats like Larry Patterson(Rip),Merlin Bobb,Naeem Johnson,Etc, Mixing there when i used to go back in the mid to late 80's, I remember seeing Barbara Roy from Estacy,Passion, And, Pain, Fame in the 70's, Perform, 'Touch and go', 'Gonna put up a fight(Produced by Paul Simpson in 1986), And, 'Gotta see you tonight',(Produced by Paul Simpson in 1986), And, 'Ask me', That night at

Club America, Club America reminded me of a spot in New York that was structured the same way, With the Dance floor being downstairs, And, That spot was called, 'The Downunder', With, Danny Krivit in the early to mid 80's.

Right, remember that place, I never went up in there - never wanted to. I remember one late night my girl and I were coming back up the hill and we passed by La Sala and saw this FINE brotha walking outta there - we always said we were gonna go up in there, but ultimately we were scared of them Spanish chicks trying to jump us. [Cool]

Okay what was that other place in Orange/East Orange on William Street?

The article also mentioned Odells in Baltimore. Truth be known, back in the day on a good night Odells could give Zanz a full run for the money!
