Hello Underground Family: [Big Grin]

Much respect and thanks to those who have come before me and point the way. I am looking for extended video of people Lofting. I've seen that style on a few occasions before, and very few in the Washington, DC area practice it (3 people?). This past weekend in Baltimore at Soul Fiesta (that place is great!!!), I saw ICB members and a couple guys "Lofting" and that was great as we rarely see that style in DC.

We usually only see it when we travel to NYC/NJ (Or in the 'Dancer' segment of the Maestro documentary). I've been trying to pick up a few steps on my own as part of my journey in Amateur dance. They say that you have to watch and learn. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

As I have searched the internet over and over, big respect and thanks goes to Byron Cox of

www.housedancer.com
[thumbsup]
He has led me to the following examples and I am definitly looking for more:

Thanks likewater. I call it Freestyling too but even 'Freestyling' has developed into certain styles and moves. Ironic right!? So for lack of a better term many folks call it 'Lofting'.

"Dancing get down and get funky" happens all the time and it's great; however, even though we see folks Freestyling many can attest to being able to seeing similarities in freestyle moves (more irony [Big Grin] ) especially with dancers from certain regions, (e.g LA & San Fran, or NYC, or Tokyo)

I mean, back in the day (1950's) people could tell whick neighborhood you came fron by the way you Hand Danced in Washington, DC.

OH, how I wish there was just a six hour high def video of people just lofting. I'd let it play a loop over and over on a 12X12 foot screen during a party. Oooops, I went off on a daydream tangent!

Good to see you're still at it! This first link has some really hot footwork.

Here's some basics:

Best combination of footwork & floorwork:

(nasty control @ 4:00 min mark [Hail] )

For the original style of lofting check out the dude in the beginning of this clip:

Remember it's never about how you dance, it's always about you dancing!! [snoopy]
