That's a shame because sometimes he makes valid points. It's just the way he goes about it that is problematic. Nevertheless, I completely understand your position and, if it means anything, I support you on this.

Maybe the reason you haven't had time to move to a private ISP is because you have to spend so much time refereeing these petty arguments and doling out punsihments to grown people who sometimes act like little children.

I wish I were more computer savvy and had more time myself. I would offer to help you out. But at this point I know just about enough about computers to crash them.

I hope others will support you and not go ballistic over this. It's not censorship, it's self defense of you, the University, this board and what you're offering us here.

MarkBe, if you read this, please don't be angry. Gman is just trying to do the right thing by everyone. Perhaps a private email of understanding and discussion is in order here.

I fully support your decision, as it was based on legal issues as well as physical threats (which SOOOOO have no place in our community, let alone on our message boards).

Anyone who takes issue with your decision should think twice because I'm sure they wouldn't be volunteering to pay your legal fees were something to actually come of the threats.

I think there are some people taking this thing way too seriously. MarkBe is being taken way too seriously. Honestly ask yourselves. Would an intelligent, erudite, forward thinking FAMILY man with a beautiful daughter on his back & in his heart jeopardize his life & his family for some that are willing to go to great lengths to silence him, even putting GMAN in a corner with legal wrangling just to see to it that his voice is not heard, maybe even lose sleep because he/they must have some kind of final word/action/repressive measure. Nobody put a gun to anyone’s head and said you must retort or you’re not a man, your manhood has been temporarily revoked. As a matter of fact, peaceful resolution through either complete silence or countering violent with non violent responses is very effective, since this medium of music is not so life threatening.

Maybe I’m being naïve in all of this but there have been many that have come to MarkBe’s defense, people that I have come to greatly respect because of their honesty, intellect, depth & breadth of knowledge, wisdom, common sense & realness. I highly doubt these people have any hidden agendas. MarkBe invited people down to his gig & he gets disrespected for being a businessman & a responsible parent that is obviously thinking about preparing his offspring for an uncertain future, made very real and in your face as of 9/11. The man is a serious intellect with a twist, the MarkBE twist as only MarkBE knows how & there are some that can’t deal with this. Get over it. Nobody cares about you anyway, certainly not MarkBe, and although I’m not speaking for him, would highly doubt that he’s losing sleep over this.

What is really disturbing is this desire for power, control & ultimate control by silencing ones right to express themselves, especially within the current climate of uncertainty, where basic civil liberties are being threatened & eroded minute by minute. This is a very real reaction to the times. People like ______are acting like dictators. This type of behavior is mimicking the ruling class’s. Think for one minute!!!!! All it takes is everyday people like you & me to approve of this shit & sooner or later down the line, public opinion polls will sway in the favor of the sissies because now we gotta be scared of people’s opinions. MarkBe said it best. “Think, it ain’t illegal yet”. The precedent being set here is a dangerous one & over what, some bullshit macho ego thing? Over some critique that was not addressed properly from the get because of inexperience in dealing with certain “character” traits which, SEEM difficult. If one is prepared to use force, verbal force that is, they better be trained in the art of knowledge of self. MartkBE is one confident & aware individual that seems to have his corner of the world in check. That to me is his only crime.

As for the legal issues, if there is any liability, it has already attached. Mind you, I don't have all the facts or the law, but my gut feeling is there is none.
