I just don't care anymore. I don't care about DJing. I don't care about buying records. I only come to this page to read the drama. I feel like I should be clubbing more since i moved to NYC but i don't really feel like going out. I'd rather here the new Bloc Party or TV on the Radio than an LLV cut. what's wrong with me? did anyone else go through this? ![[Idontknow]](graemlins/conf44.gif)

i'm sure we've all been through this. i've been going through this all year. though i still enjoy playing out when given the oppurtunity. and i don't just come on the page for the drama.
but, i almost never buy dance records anymore. i've been listening to the latest albums by... and you will know us by the Trail Of Dead,The Warlocks, British Sea Power, M83, etc... istead of listening to dance music.
if you trully care about the music it will alway be in your heart. but i don't feel the need to live my whole life built around it. there is so much more out there than dance music. whatever it may be.. visual art, theatre, or whatever. it is there for us, why not enjoy it all.

Yeah, what 6 23 said. I went through that when I stopped posting and shut myself off from House Music, more or less completely and I'm still at that stage to a certain extent. It probably just means that you tastes are changing a bit. Nothing is wrong, in fact, you should just embrace it.
Does TV on the Radio have any new music out? I'm wearing out their last CD.

Honey I have been in NY for a year now, I stopped djing, listening to music, got tired of going out...only 4 weeks ago I finally hooked up my turntables, in the last few months finally went out to a few parties...trust me it is not you...if you just move, I understand NY is alot to digest. ![[bighug]](graemlins/bighug.gif)

I'd have to echo your feelings on this one. It's weird - I didn't even realize that my interest was beginning to wane until I made a mix a couple of weeks ago and barely got through it.
I'm not giving it up, well at least I don't think so. All of my stuff is going into storage for the next 3 years though. I guess this might coincide with entering a new phase in my life - law school (!) and not having the future income to buy records, etc.
Just as some aspects of house music have been stale over the last few years (imo), there's a good amount of stuff to be had, it's just I don't wanna pay $12 for an import anymore. And I'm not a CD person. And alot of my spots for 2nd hand classics, etc. in Philly have been dry for a while now.
And dare I say it, b/c I'll probably catch flak for it, but I'm learning less about music from DHP now, the bad drama on here is really distracting. Yeah it's still definitely entertaining, but for other reasons.
That said, I can't wait until I get my iPod so I can load up all of these mixes from DHP/non-DHP members alike!

welcome to Stage II!
Stage II is the end of the enfatuation.
It's also when you start taking everything that used to be importnat much less seriously... usually has to do with feeling you've mastered the art or craft, you've accomplished the goals you set out to when you started this path or you're disillusioned with the scene itself.
Don't be discouraged or disappointed - but you should find yourself some inspiration (I like Ray's suggestions for that) and take time away from it, too. You'll be back soon enough, and not to worry - you're not going to miss anything major, plus, it'll all still be here when you come back.
That's part of the beauty of it all.
