You extrapolated the wrong conclusions from what you have read during your time here.
There was a contest (which has not repeated) that JMJ won. It's almost a tongue in cheek thing at this point-the "king of edits" thing- however at the time it was (and still is) a legitimate award. There are many more on this board who edit. Personal taste (and well....editing skill) determines the hierarchy. It's all in a "wink wink nudge nudge", but prideful sort of way. Just good feelings on the board "hey props to you bro" sorta thing. At some point there will be another editing contest. Someone else will win. We all cool, now?
I will win, then. And you will all bow to the razor blade of the Mighty, Mighty Compiler. ![[Cool]](icon_rofl.gif)

Unfortunately, I've had to stop giving them out, especially in Chicago. Played a party recently where the opener ran through some of my stuff (that I'd given him) before I got on. Kinda like getting shot with your own weapon, ya know? I didn't expect that, but didn't feel good about it either. Just left a bad taste for now......JMJ [ November 30, 2005, 03:43 PM: Message edited by: JMJ ]

No they can't J.
It's so much easier to just play someone else's work...and not give credit.
Seriously,I feel ya on the not giving out stuff. You would be surprised the balls some folks have....."Can I have all of the edits you played tonite?"
Uncle Remix and Craig Loftis gave me the blueprint and they barely showed me the ropes in using SoundForge.I learned the program by myself.
It's pretty easy to do...and a very user friendly program.
I will ask someone I know for an edit they did if I like it.It's not that I can't do it myself,I just may like the way they cut it up.

And THAT'S cool. I play other people's work on occasion if I like it to the point to where I don't feel the need to do my own. But I learned my lesson after this last incident. The crazy thing was that I wasn't anywhere near the floor at the time and somebody else told me what was going on. They knew my style well enough to know that it was my stuff. And they were right. Not a huge deal, but definitely an eye opener......JMJ
