The Concept of any edit comes from THAT DJ and I can not teach the creativity that is herd when JMJ & Jamies material is played. How they edit is all them, their own creation which came from with-in.

I can show anybody the ropes, it's on them to climb.

ACID 1.0 is my thang...I am THE ACID KING hand down.

I entered a edit in the edit contest and it did not make the final cut.

The Best Edit in My collection is the Sean Smith LRR colabo that he used in a DJ battle some years back. Between that BIG Freak edit & Emanules Badluck edit, that started the whole 2K MEGA EDITs (as I call them) thing.

JMJ's My First Mistake is not just an edit, it's a Mega Edit. I class a Mega Edit as one that make Dancers & DJ's alike say DAYMEEM!!!!!!!!!when ther hear it the first time.

As I said, I am The Acid King and the only DJ that ever worked one of my Acid jobs to the point that I couldnt believe that they were playing a piece of work that I did is Donna Edwards

Like JMJ said Apples & Oranges as of a contest - He is The Edit King I am The Acid King.

The edit is in your head first (at least mine are), Just keep you measures and counts straight, Cuz I can't stand an off-ass edit. After doing them for so long, You know what you want. Do beware of the Over-edit.

I like to listen to Edits, but then again I think most Edits are starting to sound the same from every other Dj who has an Edit, JMO.
I think a Music Master or a Master Editor could take a 3 minute song and flip it into a 5 or 7 minute song without hitting one part of the song 10 times.
Editing every Record is just over kill (IMO). One thing that I learned from Hugo and Frankies edits...it's about substance more than cool tricks.

nah its not bro, the crowd are a terrible mix of binge drinking, uncultured slobs, who make a football ground of the dancefloor. girls who spend 5 hours getting ready beforehand, and when they come out they dont want to ruin their hair or their mascara, people who request scissor sisters, kylie minogue, abba and usher. 90% of the time the speakers are broken. every night about 10 people do the john travolta "move" then stand laughing in the middle of the floor for at least 1min. the extent of most peoples knowledge about chicago house is derrick carter, im sure some of them even think carl cox is from chicago LOL.

i play my edits out, mostly i edit stuff that is a bit difficult to mix, and i just make it a little dj friendly.. yeah, i had fun when i went to NYC, i met kevin hedge for about 2 seconds, and he shouted me some drinks. but i got bored and got drunk, then went home by myself in a cab, NYC was lonely for me. i want to go back though, club LOVE was really really cool, the soundsystem was the best i heard there, i didnt make it to CHICAGO, i was too broke [Smile] maybe summer next year!

Can someone show me how to do this "edit" thing? I got a 'puter and a download version of Valley Forge 1.776, where do I start?

Seriously,
It's good to see a positive topic about editing again. It got slammed so hard a while ago, people ran for the hills/labs never to be heard from again. From the days of cutting reel-to-reel tape and "pause button" edits off the cassette deck, editing has been a way for a DJ to put their individual stamp on a particular song. They may have extended a small piece to make it more dj-friendly, or reconstructed a song into a full blown "mega-edit". Either way, it was the dj's way of taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary for them.

JMJ's shyt is tight, hands down, as well as others who I have heard. Of the legends, Erasmo Rivera, Craig Loftis & Leonard "Remix" Roy are the best I've heard. Of the people playing today, JMJ, Emmanuel, Jamie, E-Phi, & Leonard Part Sixx will be the legends of tomorrow.

I have edits from all of the above & I do play them out. If I know a jock is in the party, I will play their edit and give them credit when people ask about it. It's kinda like a shout out per se'. I can't say if I've ever played an edit by a dj I was playing a party with, but I don't have an issue with it.

For the record -- Craig Loftis taught me the basics of editing also, cutting tape back in 1984 in his momma's basement. I ain't been the same since...
