Excerpts from lyrics by Immortal Technique

... because if we had some sense of who we really are, there's no way in hell we'd allow this country to push it's genocidal consensus on our homelands. This ignorance exists, but it can be destroyed ...

...Nigga talk about change and working within the system to achieve that. The problem with always being a conformist is that when you try to change the system from within, it's not you who changes the system; it's the system that will eventually change you. There is usually nothing wrong with compromise in a situation, but compromising yourself in a situation is another story completely ...

...I'm quite sure that people will look upon my attitude and sentiments and look for hypocrisy and hatred in my words. My revolution is born out of love for my people, not hatred for others...

... until we realize [the Government's the ultimate gangsta] we'll be fighting for scraps from the table of a system that has kept us subservient instead of being self-determined....

... no matter how many diamonds you buy from people who exploit your own brutally to get them, no matter what kind of car you drive or what kind of fancy clothes you put on, you will never be them. They're always gonna look at you as nothing but a little monkey. (((((((((I'd rather be proud of what I am, rather than desperately trying to be something I'm really not, just to fit in...)))))))))

... It's the business giants and the government officials who make all the real money. (((((((((We have whatever they kick down to us....)))))))))

... I don't want to escape the plantation I want to come back, free all my people, hang the Mother-Fucker that kept me there and burn the house to the god damn ground....

(((((((((You cannot change the past but you can make the future, and anyone who tells you different is a Fucking lethargic devil.)))))))))) I don't look at a few token Latinos and black people in the public eye as some type of achievement for my people as a whole. (((((((((((Most of those successful individuals are sell-outs and house Negros.))))))))))))

So in conclusion, I'm not gonna vote for anybody just 'cause they black or Latino .... PERSONALLY, I (FREE) HAVE A DAMN HARD TIME GOING TO ANY POLL TO VOTE FOR ANYBODY FOR WHATEVER OFFICE ... IT ALL SEEMS SO HYPOCRITCAL, FRUITLESS ... I REMEMBER AT A FORT GREEN PARK "SOUL SUMMIT" EVENT LAST SUMMER A SISTA APPROACHING ME TO SUPPORT SOME BLACK CANDIDATE RUNNING FOR SOME POLITICAL OFFICE (CAN'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT POSITION) ... WE SPOKE BRIEFLY & I SUCCINTLY TOLD HER THAT POLITICS IS A GAME AND NOW AS HAD BEEN THE CASE SEEMINGLY FOREVER IT'S NOT ADVANCING BLACK PEOPLE .... THE ILLUSION THAT IT IS REALLY UPSETS ME. i CONCLUDED, I'M NOT PLAYING THE GAME FROM THAT ANGLE ANYMORE. SISTA WAS REAL COOL & JUST SAID SHE RESPECTED MY MENTAL INM THIS REGARD ....

#################################

Just a few words...

Above are pointers I've highlighted from the original piece by Immortal Technique... Powerful stuff.

The circle of people I'm close to now are pretty much up on the time. We often discuss our plight as black people (ALL people of color) And, perhaps more importantly, we often discuss what could we do to change this situation.

Oftentimes we touch on the subject of revolution and revolutionaries. Long story short I often say on this tip that it all starts within one's own circle.

It's damn difficult/life-threatening, even to change the entire world with powerful speeches, organized (even disorganized -- LOL) movements, or actual revolutionary warfare. BUT IT'S BEEN DONE. History attests to this. Albeit it' a gradual process and the results while O.K. with some may seem way too short in supply for others. I guess it all boils down to one's own personal philosophies on what advancements black people have made up to this day and if these are real or just illusions ... (let me not go on another tangent here ...)

Anyway, like I was saying, build within your inner circle. Let revolution (if this is your stee) start here. Hip the young guns/future generations within your circle to the time and to know the wickness of man (trust no man, basically) and how he controls through this "system" he has created and is WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO MAINTAIN.

Build with the people who matter the most to you and let the effects of this ripple outward for generation after generation after generation ...

Word Free, I wasn't up on Immortal Technique but my boy just gave me his CD - Revolutionary Vol 2. to listen to on my drive back from visiting my family for Christmas... Dude raps about a whole mess of political shit... The Patriot Act, George Bush, The War in Iraq... There is even a track on the CD where someone is reading a letter from Mumia Abu Jamal "Live From Death Row" talking about the war... it's nice to hear someone rapping about issues that affect us all instead of your regular bitch this nigga that bling bling put em on the glass kinda shit...
I'll try to post the audio from the Mumia excerpt when I get a chance...
