I wish that the real true producers lose the dj bug and get back to producing the beautiful music we love so much from them.
I wish to hear more greatness out of the studio from guys like Blaze, Dennis F, Quentin Harris, Jephté Guillaume, Glenn Underground, Josh Wink, and countless other top producers in our scene. Even though they can dj and seem to have no problems getting dj gigs, I really wish they would stick to what made them great.
I wish more of the younger, up and coming producers like Mr. V, John Crockett, David Tobon, Franck Roger, Filsonik, Scott Wozniak(sp?), Marlon D, find much success and continue to push this music forward in the coming year.
I wish for the real djs in our scene start to step up in an aggressive manner when it comes to getting gigs...the scene need you guys who know how to rock a party.
I wish we can get back to weeding out and calling out the mediocrity in our scene (djs, singers, producers, promoters) so the scene can flourish once again.
and one of my biggest wish of the new year, I really wish we can stop with the fucking countless boring edits...just editting for the sake of editting and running to yousendit to upload it and then running to the dhp to post it, is doing and injustice to our ears!!! Stop it already.
what's your wish?

My wish is not to ever have to hear another on-line mix that makes me cringe every other time the "DJ" tries to blend two records together. Get it tight and right before putting it out there please!

Why can't they do both? Don't you think getting out there in front of their audience helps inform their production? I know plenty of people who do both remarkably well.

to answer your question : no!
and that answer comes from experiencing countless "just ok" sets from dj producer x.
trust me, it's less than 10 of them worldwide who can do both.
plus, mixing records over the course of 2 hours, and truly banging a party into submission is two different things.
we really need to get back to good talented djs ripping the roof off parties so folks can actually experience what is a damn good party.

I wish for more mixes from Karizma and Rahaan, more great remixes from DJ Spinna, more great bootleg remixes from DFA, more edits on vinyl from The Underdog, more of Lil Ray's cooking, more of Leslie's wine, more NYC parties I can attend, more dj gigs in the East Village, more drums gigs in upstate NYC, a better paying tech job, and a better status for my people in this country and abroad.

Good thread Mishu...
I wish Female Dj's would step up and actually be good enuf to be comparable to their male counterparts.
and conversely: I wish people/Male DJ's would stop hanging on the nutz of female dj's and "big upping" them when they can't even hold a basic 4x4 blend. I wish we could face the fact that 99% of all female dj's can't mix... And I wish it would be okay to say it...
It does them a dis'service to tell them they are on point and they are not. Step up ladies... you HAVE to be equally competent PERIOD. But Big Titties and a purteee smile blinds DJ's to that fact I guess.
I wish House Music to metriculate down to the 18-27 yr olds. And that they embrace it and enjoy it as much as we have and still do
I wish for GREATNESS for some very special Dj's and Producers in my life.
I wish for good dyck. *nuff said*
I wish for prosperity for myself and others so we can be examples and also conduits it which this thing we love can con't.
I also wish for my BMW 540 I.
Okay dats it.
NEXT~!~!~~

I do agree that I've heard some mediocre sets by big name deep house producers. I've also heard some terrible sets from guys who only just DJ.
I'd say there's way more than ten really good/dj producers out there, at least in the kind of vibe which I'm feeling these days.
But your point is well taken, it's annoying going to a parties where you know a local guy who only DJs could do a way better job than the name out of towner. But then again the name out of towner is propably bringing in at least twice the people....

oh, and I wish I never see another "I'm coming out of dj retirement after _____ years, anybody got any gigs" post again...
what's the point?
I wish djs would realize when the time for making a living from this shit has passed them by, and just spin just for the hell of it and for the fun of it all. Take the green energy (thanks d. mancuso ) out of the equation and just have fun.
I wish we can get excited again just because we need to go out and "steal" another milk crate for the extra records we got laying around.
I wish abundance in whatever endeavors my DHP'er decide to do in the new year.

less 25 DJs on a bill only doing 45mins to two hour sets. In 2007 it's time for the marathon sets for DJs worth their salt, to take the floor on a musical journey. 1 gig two DJs max. If a DJ sucks, call in the sandman quick!! [ December 28, 2006, 01:01 PM: Message edited by: wiz247 ]
