The Mets wasn't going to guarantee seven years for a pitcher who had at least three good years left before the chance of a breakdown. Zito wanted to stay in the Bay Area and like the saying goes "There's No Place Like Home!"

Mets - Better go after Jeff Weaver because that's all that's left on the market.
